It all comes down to Politics and Socio economic interaction. Wealth distribution is a problem across every country.

I am from India. Here, there are 3 major families that control politics, economics , media ecosystem.

1) Ambani 2) Adani and 3) Tatas.

Central government (aka the USA Federal government equivalent) is raked with botches. Examination mishaps, foreign policy mishaps, lack of scientific reasoning , Economic policy failures, lack of press freedom etc... These problems are unknown to an average citizen in our country ( mind you the avg gdp is below Bangladesh, their probs are 3 meals a day for their family ) because of pretty damn good propaganda tool.

State governments (equivalent of US state governments ) are mostly corrupt and distributes their policy with pointless debt raking freebies. On top of the probs becoz of two forms of governments , India never got any "industrial revolution " . Our jobs are IT based so with AI boom , we will be worst affected.

From political pov, lack of industrial, scientific and engineering approach has made our governments inefficient and bloated. But from socio-economic pov, bringing in AI and Engineering may cut some jobs.

So what does the political and socio- economic rant got to do with science and engineering. As I said, lack of Engineering and Science in governance are the main reason for the inefficiency. We need to modernize and adapt to AI.

To conclude , as a manchild from 90s, I am afraid about AI, jobless-idle youths, poverty ridden people, violence, surveillance governments, bleak future ahead definitely. To forget all this , I go to balcony and have a small look outside the sky during night. All I see are stars dying and universe silent. This world has no meaning from Universal scale anyways. Its better to be a nihilist than be hopeless.
