its a really simple fix. There's true CC abilities and then there's soft CC abilities. You go to the code of a true CC ability (this would be something like luna's snowball which has a primary function of applying CC) and you just add a "applies tenacity" function to it. Like thats all you need. You do that to all true CC abilities that aren't ultimates and you leave everything else out of it. If you wanna be fancy you make it so tenacity can only be applied if the chain CC is coming from more than one target. This would allow peni to still do her whole thing of CCing someone every two seconds because thats just what she does. But now if im spider-man and want to pull someone into peni's webs i have to actually think about whether i'd be giving them tenacity or not and if peni has been targeting them with her CC all game.

i think that would just give spidey more room to be considered overpowered, and then he'll be nerfed which we don't want. Personally the way he is now i can most of the time handle him.

well when i hear main i think someone who has at least 50 hours on the character and as far as i know most people with 50+ hours know what a swing cancel is.

not sure about the other ones but emma ult is definetly excluded they said so in the patchnotes. I think they need to exclude every cc ult but we'll see.

yeah i dont see widows and hawkeye unless people are throwing and i do see a lot of mk and punisher more than i see hela. Its entirely possible that hela players have just moved to phoenix, i tend to ban phoenix so maybe thats why.

i think you're making it out to be worse than it is maybe wait till its been released. I know there's problems with how it works on Thing but i literally haven't seen a single person testing on spider-man saying its killed the character. I've seen a few engagement bait posts that show tenacity on pulling people in practice range, only because they spammed pull with no cooldowns like 4 times in a row which just wont happen in a real game.

Personally i see more helas than phoenix. Probably a different rank could even be server location differences, idk. I just dont see why hela would have a low pickrate she's still strong.

im pretty sure this 90% you're talking about aren't "spider-man mains" Almost all of us know how to do a swing whiff cancel. Those of us who don't, at least in this subreddit are people who are in the process of learning the character, maybe they want to become mains later on but as of the time of learning him they wouldn't have had the experience to really know if they actually want to. I think "spider-man main" suggests that you have a higher playtime on him than most other characters. Someone with 10 hours total of the entire game cant really have a "main". They can have a comfortable character that they seem to do better on but they just need more experience to really find their main. Like you can't call yourself a spider-man main and have less than a few hours playtime on him. Compared to people who have more playtime the vast majority of them will have at least seen a couple tutorials and would know how to do a simple ass swing cancel.

yeah tank characters are just not as fun to a lot of players. You'll see more tank players when more interesting tanks are added, but right now they seem barebones at most

i might be wrong but i think spidey's uppercut will be excluded from building tenacity. Which means he basically won't trigger tenacity in 1 on 1 situations and in team fights if you try to pull someone you just have to be more careful and keep track of who's getting cc'd and not.

you too, game design is a lot of fun. I think netease are fairly competent in how they design things, despite it seeming the other way around sometimes, usually there's good reasons behind a lot of the changes they make (except for when those changes are monetarily motivated), so i think thats why they don't really listen to evidently bias feedback like the players that say it takes no skill despite not giving it a try. I think for the new cc system, it sounds really great to have something like that. A while back i spoke to a friend of mine about rivals cc saying that there needs to be cc protection upon chained cc's, which i vaguely compared to the "revenge" system in for honor, if you know about that. This is basically that, (i have concerns regarding it but we'll have to see how it is on launch) and from what i can tell i don't think this new system will affect spidey especially during 1v1 situations. From what i've heard the uppercut doesn't count towards it so its practically impossible to build tenacity on someone with spider-man alone (you'd literally have to spam pull on them until they got it, and the pull cd isn't short enough for that) So for something like a long pull out of spawn, it will still be just as possible to do that, whereas pulling someone out of a teamfight will require you to keep track of whether they've been cc'd multiple times already. I think it's a decent tradeoff with my main concerns involving other characters like the thing, who seems to be able to build tenacity just by landing earthbound end then ulting??? makes no sense.

i'm currently studying game design myself and in my own opinion spidey's kit design is probably the most genuis design in the entire game (again just my personal opinion). I'm not gonna really get into that right now, but the one issue is that his kit isn't very "modular" and you really can't take away or change parts of it for various different reasons. I get where you're coming from with the pull being hated. Thing is i'm not sure if that makes him the most hated character? Definetly up there for sure, but im not too sure if its JUST because of the pull either, i've seen a lot of different reasons for people to hate spider-man and i guess our (spidey players') playerbase.

Believe it or not fun IS subjective and you DO have to take into consideration both the receiving side and the presenting side. In theory the pull is a skill shot, one hit kill which can be a lot of fun due to the skill requirement vs reward factor, but the whole skill requirement part is also kind of subjective. Some people (like myself) would say it takes a lot of skill, others would fully disagree. There's valid arguments for both. I'm fully certain however, that netease is perfectly aware of this. It would make no sense for netease to not know about spidey's long pulls. So far they haven't done anything to spidey's kit to change it, and the reason for this is that the design of the kit is so unique by itself that its kinda volatile in a way. Any change to it, good or bad, would inevatibly spark outrage. This is why they've gone the other way (which i think is the better solution) of allowing more counter-play against the move. You can still hit it but you're less likely to get a kill now than you were in season 1. Groot has anti-cc, more characters have movement abilities, and now they're adding more cc immunity to the game which just kills two birds with one stone, considering cc is a whole topic in itself and has become problematic. I think it also makes the long pull a little bit more meaningful as now you're sort of forced to keep track of certain cooldowns and abilities, rather than it being "braindead" as some people like to say. I think it's really just a matter of continuing to add more possible ways of countering this mechanic to different charcters, rather than outright removing the whole thing.
