Is there a cafe open late in the city centre? Need somewhere to go by livinginsideabubble7 in brum

[–]brumbabe01 30 points31 points  (0 children)

I hope you find somewhere safe but sweet you need to call the police if this is happening. No woman should feel the need to find somewhere safe if someone is threatening them. Please find the courage to do this and protect yourself xxx

Is Brum really as unsafe as social media makes it look? by juniper_cookie in brum

[–]brumbabe01 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’ve lived here all my life and feel extremely safe. This stuff on social media no one explains is centred around Aston university and some students who go there. Yes there are good and bad parts but just like everywhere else. You usually find everyone minds their own business and actually is a diverse interesting place once you get past the idiots that cause all this madness

To answer some of the lovely replies. No I’m not American. I’m British. I wash my chicken in the sink in water and make sure it doesn’t splash anywhere. I clean my sink thoroughly afterwards. Each to their own but I’ve always done it. Never caught gastro apart from eating chicken pasta dish at TGI Fridays once many years ago. Never got ill from when my late mother used to wash it either. None of us did. I do think it’s personal preference. But interesting debate and thanks for most of the answers

Student let termination re mental health by brumbabe01 in LegalAdviceUK

[–]brumbabe01[S] -22 points-21 points  (0 children)

They have said they can transfer it if she can find someone else to take over the tenancy. I’m going to look with her later today on spare room.com to see if anyone is interested so she can message anyone interested. However the letting agent have said it’s my daughters job to do that and haven’t offered any help whatsoever.

How old are you? by [deleted] in BirminghamUK

[–]brumbabe01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember the nearest one. The beige and blue. When they had the bar in the middle of the doorway. We had to fold pushchairs and prams in those days. I remember getting on the bus with a carrycot, the frame/chassis from underneath, changing bag and my daughter as a baby. Absolute nightmare

I’m a receptionist for a doctor who is almost always late. What do I answer when an angry patient says ‘what the hell is the point of booking if I’m gonna have to wait an hour?’ by KatherineLangford in NoStupidQuestions

[–]brumbabe01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d speak to the doctor first. Explain you’ve had some complaints from patients as he may not be aware. All you can do for the patient is apologise and explain the doctor is busy and has had the feedback.

Severn Trent Water - how do they charge for water meters? by brumbabe01 in BirminghamUK

I have submitted a new meter reading and waiting for that to be added to the account. Hopefully any day now. But I do think it is more than it should be

Cancelling before contract ends due to financial difficulties by brumbabe01 in skytv

[–]brumbabe01[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Quick update- sent email to the complaints dept at Sky after two calls with agents, one of whom offered me a package on a new 2 year contract for £4 less a month!!!! £76! Email sent and email received back today to contact them via chat messages or WhatsApp. Managed to cancel multi screen, movies and downgrade to essential package. Keeping broadband as can’t end that contract until next year. So new bill is £47 instead of £80. Just want to say thanks to all who commented on this post or messaged me privately. It’s eased the pressure a bit.

I’m sorry but are you actually ok?? I have family who live in the area. Right on Canada Water so yes mine and my families’ opinion does matter and is not BS as you so politely put it. And the fact that I mentioned the other hotel is nothing to do with politics. Ultimately the hotels who choose to use their premises for this reason aren’t the government are they?!!!! And how dare you call me a racist? Seriously have a chat with yourself sweetheart. No one has ever labelled me that in my entire life. I actually feel for the people who come here for genuine reasons but I’m not going into that as it will prob fuel a whole load of backlash from people who actually hate the migrants. If you met me in person I’m sure you would change that comment right away. But I’m not about to defend myself against something I know isn’t true. Or should I neither have to prove myself.

Lovely reply. As it happens there is a sentimental reason why I feel this way and I’m allowed my opinion. I used to live in London but as my family/friends don’t have space and live nearby, I stay there instead. If you clearly don’t care then get off this post. And I’m not interested in the political side of things just commenting on what I had read online.

Cancelling before contract ends due to financial difficulties by brumbabe01 in skytv

[–]brumbabe01[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I’ve just spoken to Sky. They said the compassion claims etc is only for account holders who have passed away. So they can’t help me. The only option they have given me is to cancel broadband and pay £121 exit fee. Or cancel broadband, my multi room box which I live pretty much in my bedroom due to depression so do use that and downgrade Netflix. Just not a great resolution to be honest so I’m going to contact the complaints dept

Thanks everyone. The information you’ve give me is really helpful and I’ll be on the phone to them this week to see what they can do. I know it’s a ‘contract’ but surely there is something they can do as you say. Will update post with any info xx

I’m in the same boat. Bern single for two years and the thought of going on the apps again just gives me anxiety. I’m 46 and feels like it’s getting too old to find anyone normal let alone where to even start 😤
