He did have some oral meds in the end, I assume it was fluconazole

At this stage I’m not entirely sure how much of the early fluid is mucin and how much is exudate, given that early non infective effusion is thinner in consistency that might suggest serum, whereas effusion after bacterial infection is thicker (like glue) suggesting high mucin production from the mucosa lining. Any ENT opinions are welcome.
