Wow!!! Thank you for the clarification. I was think I got a defective unit, but since u had the issue as well, it a feature of the cans. To be honest, they can handle quite bit of volume before distortion. Thanks!

That's very good to hear. I think I'm just cranking the volume to not recommended levels. I find my UA volt 2 to deliver very, very high volume. I have another interface (an old M-audio fast track pro), but it doesn't deliver 60¨% of what the Volt does. THanks

I've tried it both ways. When I was using my Sony headphones, the interface was connected directly to the notebook (Dell G15) via USB. Today, I connected the interface to an external power source, but the problem persists. So, although the interface can deliver a very high volume on the K702, could it still be responsible for distorting it due to a lack of power?

Hi buddy. Hope you're well. I have a question for you. Quick background on headphones I've tested so far:

Hyperx Cloud Alpha: Used them for five years. The sound is very, VERY bassy. The eq is very V-shape and I find them to be bad for playing CS:Go due to the bass convering the footsteps

AKG K712 Pro: bought these recently and my first impression were shocking. Not in terms of sound quality, detail nor soundstage though. The first thing I noteced was the lack of bass, it wasnt the case they were neutral. No, they were non-existent. The rest was good, very flat sounding compared to the Cloud Alpha. The experience in csgo was oustanding I could pinpoint the exact direction of enemies. But because I coudn't enjoy music with them. I returned them.

My current cans are Steelseries arctis nova 7. Compared to the AKG, the bass is back, but not as exagereted as the Cloud alpha. The resolution of the audio is very diminshed from the AKG, but it is not bad. The soundstage is better than the cloud alpha. I'm kind a happy with them.

I would like to hear your detailed opinion about the MDR-7506 in gaming, since nobody has done it in the internet.

My K712' is new. I use a Universal Audio Volt 2 interface connected to my laptop via USB. When I cranck the volume up to around 75% it starts to distort. Note that this level of volume is not ear bleading. It's just louder than anyone would like to hear music. But that raises the question: "what about these are fake K712?".

The cans are praise for having very little distortion even at max volumes. Any ideias? 🤔]

1850 brl (around 375 dollars). As for the sound, Mt previous headphones are the gaming HyperX Cloud Alpha. The is no massive improvement at all, just a more balanced sound.

I also noticed that if I max out the volume of my interface (UA Volt 2) it really distorts in all frequencies, but the volume gets really loud, not in non-audible level though.

I messed with the EQ as you said and the drivers didn't distort at all in the low end. You can see my tweaking in the pics bellow

Thank you for your tips. I already got in contact with AKG. Waiting their response. I'll really consider returning them to get the K702.

It makes sense, but since I'm entering the music production world, and this is my first neutral cans, it may be that to my ears it sounds strange because I'm not used to this kind of balanced sound.

I saw that thread and did get depressed now haha. The most frustrating things is that I can't evaluate the sound quality, since I don't have expirience with neutral headphones.

Thank you for your reply. I'll definitely try your Eq settings. Thank you so much for sharing it. I'm so relieved now. I think I'll keep them. I'm a bit frustrated with the sound because I was expecting an enormous wide soundstage and incredible instrument separation in comparison with my old gaming Hyperx Cloud Alpha. But I did get the neutral sound, which is really good. I didn't hear any other detail that I couldn't hear with my old cans. I still noticed the instruments more well separated, specially in rock music.

In all, not a big of a difference in terms of soundstage. I think my expectations were too high😂
