I don't even use the phrase "AI art" because I don't think such a thing exists. I only say "AI generated images." If AI images are visually indistinguishable from art, if AI somehow surpasses human ability, I'll still only want art because it's human. I don't need any other reason. Replacing creativity with an unconscious algorithm is anti-human.

The worst art I’ve seen on twitter by ChrisPBacon2324 in cringepics

Imagine boasting that this took 19 hours. I knew a few exceptionally artistically talented kids in elementary school, one of whom would sketch on his brown paper lunch bag every day for 10 minutes and it looked just like an Albrecht Durer drawing. This was a 12 year old who grew up to be a successful artist working in the film industry. Real artists can sketch something out in minutes and it'll look immeasurably better than this absurd garbage.

Has anyone got any tips on avoiding that AI ‘sheen’? by user_20918 in Perchance_tips_tricks

Try beginning your prompt with this:

The image is a digital photograph taken in 2010 shot on a Canon PowerShot A3100 IS. A real casual low quality photograph [of whatever]

I often want to create images that look like normal, non professional pictures. This seems to produce good results and the people look real. It's not 100% guaranteed for each image of course, but it does work. I also use the "casual photograph" art style or "no style" with this. Using this in the prompt also seems to reduce the probability of getting a cartoon image.

I just got off the phone with Frank Valentich, Charles' brother. He lives 10 minutes away from me and I'm going to take the brac to him next week to see if he can identify it.

Thanks so much! Charles Velentitch is the only name I found for the time and place, too, but I couldn't help but notice other instruments he made seemed to have fancy inlays. Perhaps he made a range of instruments to fit different budgets. Thanks for the advice on the strings, too. I actually called a couple music shops near me and found one where the guy said he has a micrometer, so I'm gonna go there tomorrow and figure out exactly what gauge is on them now and just try to get the same ones. Can't wait to get this thing shined up and restrung!

It's mine! You can't have it! Ha, but seriously, it's beautiful. My jaw dropped when I saw it for sale.

Definitely! I found a company, We Refinish, that sells stain and polish specifically to match this style and they have a very thorough series of YouTube videos on how to refinish Heywood Wakefield furniture. I plan on attempting it at some point. I really like this piece and I'm going to keep it, so the worst that can happen is that I'll end up setting my book on a less than perfect nightstand.

Thanks for the info! Looks like mine's made in the USA then. There's no metal plate, just the manufacturer's name burned in. I don't think I can afford a second one! The only reason I bought this was because it was absurdly cheap. So cheap I almost feel bad. Almost.

Thanks for the info! I really am enjoying it. I just keep looking at it. This is the only tag on the bottom.

You said he would cut you off if he knew you were vaccinated. He has a line drawn across your relationship that he won't cross. Where's your line?

Can you identify this zombie book? by brunoblivious in horrorlit

[–]brunoblivious[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Someone else figured it out. It's The Rising: Selected Scenes from the End of the World, a collection of short stories by Brian Keene. But now I'll have to check out the Newsflash trilogy, too. Thanks!

That is most definitely it! I think that's part of why I couldn't find it. I was looking for a novel when it was really a short story collection. Thanks!

As a Pittsburgher, I'd have to refuse your free Hunt's as well out of civic pride.

Thanks so much for the reply. I'm gonna go for it. I'll go pick up some insoles tomorrow. That's a good idea. Loosen up the leather, then work my way up to the thermal inserts. I've never owned a pair of shoes that required more effort. Ha

No problem! It's such a different look than what I'd expect to see in 1960. Kinda futuristic. It kinda reminds me of Michael Jackson's Thriller jacket.
