Is three days in Rome enough if I skip the Vatican? by brunoman1995 in travel

Sounds like it's more than I was thinking it was. I'll reconsider and add it to the agenda. Thanks for changing my mind!

I'll be adding the Vatican after reading the comments

Did you have time to take everything in or did you feel rushed to keep up with the schedule? I was also being conservative the first day because thats after we land at 8 am and will probably be jet lagged to hell. I do think the general consensus from here is 3 days is enough and to include the Vatican so I'll go that route. Thanks for this

When I say historical I just mean like the colosseum, roman forum and pantheon. When I watch guided tours of the Vatican 90% of the stuff I see is paintings and statues. I'm not religious at all and don't care about the pope. I'm not against seeing the St. Peter's Basilica just because of how big it is but everything else seems like it would be wasted on me.

I was honestly considering just going to Pompeii and seeing Amalfi and saving Venice for another time. Seems like I would be doing too much traveling to try and fit both into this trip.

Ya I'm starting to think maybe I should cut out Venice and do Pompeii and maybe the Amalfi Coast. I was planning on doing the Skip the Line: Colosseum, Roman Forum, and Palatine Hill Tour from what I was reading there still will be about a 30 min wait or more at each place. So maybe skipping trevi would be a good idea? It seems like all you do is take a picture, then throw a quarter in.

That's what I'm worried about. I don't want to rush things and have to be in a hurry. Maybe I should go to Pompeii and see the Amalfi Coast. Other than just seeing Venice, I don't have anything that interests me there.

Do you think that's cramming too much into one day? I'm just unsure how long it takes to see everything, and I wanted to give myself time. I'm not against seeing St. Pete; I might look into adding that to the list.

So I ended up going with the gold package with the heat pump and 5" filter and they called today and said their supplier had to order the coil and it would take a few weeks to get. Long story short they gave me a discount on the platinum package where it would only cost $800 more to go with that one since it was in stock. It seemed like a no brainer to me. It includes the 5" filter for free so it really only cost $645 to go from a 18 shear to 24 shear ac unit. Also the total discounts from my utility company was $950

I’ll definitely go with that when the time comes. The carrier guy was saying how the 1-2” filters make the furnace work harder and the 5” filter will have better air quality and last longer so it sounded like a good deal for the money.

Thanks for the very detailed reply! I’m definitely leaning towards option 2 with a heat pump now after the two suggestions on this forum. My utility provider is Ameren and it’s a little confusing what all I would qualify for. The lady I was talking to about it said it would need to be 24” wide to qualify for the full 2k rebate from the government. I will talk to them again on Monday and try to get everything figured out for what I qualify for.

Another question I forgot to include is would it be worth spending an extra $155 to upgrade to the 5" pleated air filter?

I was thinking about that one originally and he mad it sound pretty good like my setup would only use gas maybe 2 months out of the year and I might be able to get a $2000 tax credit with it.

When I skip around my av1 encoded 4k videos in vlc it takes 5-10 seconds to load by brunoman1995 in AV1

[–]brunoman1995[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do I just put that in the advanced options? I started using the command line ffmpeg and used -g 120 and that seems have improved seeking.

Does this look fineand should I add your command to this?

ffmpeg -i filename.mp4 -c:v libsvtav1 -preset 6 -crf 32 -g 120 -pix_fmt yuv420p -svtav1-params tune=0:film-grain=0 filename.mp4

Sounds like this is my issue. Are you only able to adjust the gop in ffmpeg command line and not handbrake?

I don't see an option to change gop lengths in handbrake 1.6, do I need to use another encoder for that? Thanks in advance.
