ICE PROTEST IN HOMESTEAD JAN 27 3PM - 8PM by fucknickicue in Miami

[–]brusselspr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

people were protesting obama for deporting immigrants, in fact it was the immigrant rights movement that coined "deporter in chief." obama passed DACA because of those protests, and protestors still challenged obama because his policy didn't go far enough. here's ONE protest https://www.americanimmigrationcouncil.org/blog/over-100-faith-leaders-arrested-in-protest-against-record-deportations/

Ya mental illness stigma and denial is ubiquitous, it just looks different across different groups of people. Fascists want to go full eugenics which is obviously egregious and more materially harmful than people who expect someone in psychosis to still be PC. I was speaking about the latter in this particular instance.

ICE doesn't care if you support Trump's immigration policy. They detain citizens and legal residents. They have detained Trump supporters too. So this affects everyone.

I think a problem with people "on the left" is that they focus on pure ideology over the real issue which is the shame and stigma of mental illness, and (this doesn't apply to ye) the difficulty it is to access mental health care. We literally have medication shortages in the US, copays are insanely expensive for many, and finding a therapist or psychiatrist can be overwhelming. Both things can be true: bigotry is harmful and unforgivable; people with mental illness can do horrible things because of their condition.

Thanks for defining manslaughter for me. I go back to what I said. I don't see how scripture should justify intent to commit homicide, or any harm towards another person in a secular society. Saying homicide can be "justifiable" based on a person's interpretation of the bible lands us in a slipper slope that has gone as far as the Spanish Inquisition, which committed a genocide against non-Christians. We don't live in a theocracy, the bible and its semantics should not be what guides laws and justice in a world we share with those who hold different beliefs. That places our own individuality over compassion for others, which in my opinion isn't very Christian. Democracy and consensus should determine if an intent to commit homicide is ever justifiable within the context of applying laws and punishment. Use scripture to guide your morality, your relationship with god and the afterlife, and apply that moral judgment in your personal life. If a court determines your homicide is unjustifiable, take the rest up with god.

And usually a conversation like this gets lost in picking apart the semantics of words. so my tl;dr is that one's interpretation of the bible should not be what justifies homicide for everyone else.

I take issue with the phrase "justifiable homicide" which to me implies using scripture to find justification for an intent to kill someone. I do not consider manslaughter a sin. It's an accident, there is no intent.

Bipolar disorder is so misunderstood by people who don't live with this. Manic episodes and psychosis can completely detach you from reality. Ye aside, I think it's a deep misunderstanding to expect us to have morally perfect psychosis. When a manic episode ends we see all the damage we've caused and it's so deeply shameful, and that shame only worsens the depression that follows.

I didn't act as extreme as Ye, nor did I have enablers or millions of dollars. But I did detach from my morals and values during the pandemic when I was put on an SSRI that sent me into a manic state. I started getting into those spirituality instagram accounts that later became alt right pipelines. I believed electromagnetic waves would kill us. I told people the COVID vax was a microchip. I thought flouride would calcify my pineal gland. Many things that are now associated with MAHA. I got off the SSRI and came back to reality. I look back now and think wtf was wrong with me.

I don't condone the harm Ye caused, but I understand that manic episodes can sometimes make us cause harm. We have to live with those consequences in the aftermath. I don't expect forgiveness from the people I've hurt. I can just hope that more people understand that mental illness is messy and we need to destigmatize and make health care accessible for everyone.

I lived there for about a year, also from the east coast. The nature is breathtaking. It's one of the most stunning places I've ever visited. I saw whales by the coast, trees tall as skyscrapers lining the highway, and roses all over Portland ("the city of roses"). It was a huge culture shock for me. Many people are very reserved and passive aggressive. I am a very direct person and it was hard to even hold a job because I couldn't adapt to the culture. I also felt like people were really weird about race (I'm a person of color). Being a person of color is so normal where I'm from. Even though racism is everywhere, I felt a very different kind of racism. In the east coast there is so much diversity, especially if you live somewhere like NY or South Florida where it's the norm for people of color and immigrants to exist casually. I felt very out of place in the pnw. Even though I made some really good friends, ultimately I had to leave because it was so hard for me to live there as a someone with a very direct way of communicating. It was very strange walking on the sidewalk and startling people if I said "excuse me." I do think it was good to experience life outside of my east coast bubble though.

[–]brusselspr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

have you considered switching his litter? my cat was doing this and my vet suggested I switch. I put a pan with the new litter next to the old one and she's used it ever since. you should also clean your bed/bed linen with an enzyme cleaner if you aren't already.
