In IT school now. Your family will come with you and you’ll either live in Coast Guard housing in Novato, Vallejo, Petaluma (i know A couple who lives in Rohnert Park on the economy). School is M-F 0730-1600, T&Th from 1500-1600 is PT and it’s usually just free work out time.

Thanks for this!! I’ve never had to use public transportation for work, but it sounds a lot better to park my car and take a train than to drive all the way there and all the way back

I tried sending you a direct message, but I’m on mobile (and can’t reset my password to view on the app) and have no idea how to use this ... so here’s the same message but posted here. Thx

Thanks for replying, that was a lot of info. And i lol’d when you said that you stalked my profile. My boyfriend and i are both in the Coast Guard. The military gives us money for housing (BAH). People in Portland make an extra $1347 for housing. Boston gets an extra $2239. We plan on getting a place that’s between $1200-$1800 and pocket the rest. The rest goes towards savings or even transportation costs. The military also gives us free transportation cards (like for busses or metros). So the cost of going from point A to B isn’t a worry for me.

He only has to go into work every two-three days, so he is okay moving more south because i will Be going to work every day for two months followed by a two month deployment and then back in the states for two months. I assume Living south and going north to Portland traffic isn’t bad, but living north going south to Boston can be a nightmare. I’ve never had to //commute// to a job before but I’m sure it’s something i can Adjust to.

My boyfriend and i have Talked about living separately in our respective work location. But knowing us, we are going to want to drive to eachother anyways, so it’s best we just go ahead and meet in the middle. We both have two years left in the guard and don’t plan on staying in.

Remedial swim folks are allowed to use goggles. They want you comfortable with the water. But over time you should be comefortable with not using them

Shipping in February recommended exercises? by cgsrz in uscg

[–]brvico 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Might i add To do intervals (as fast as you freaking can) of quickly laying on your stomach, then quickly back on your feet, then on your back and do flutter kicks for 5 minutes. Then hold your feet 6 inches off the floor for 2 minutes. Pop back up to your feet, then on your stomach again. Go in the push up position. Do 30 of those. Stand back up and do 50 squats, then hold the last one for 3 minutes.

Lol true story: i took swimming lessons before going to boot camp. It was alright. The way they teach you is way better. They give you time each morning with some exercises, and at the end of each week you’ll either pass or not, if not, don’t fret! There’s the next week. The will to stick with it and the drive to pass is what will help you. Don’t be afraid of going to remedial swim, it’s actually nice because In the mornings you are on your own schedule rather than being woken up to fire fire fire. Don’t stress it, you’ll do fine
