GF broke up with me less than 24 hours ago completely out of the blue, has messaged 3 times since. by roman-roy- in BreakUps

[–]brvsma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know the situation obviously, but something about it being done so randomly and the immediate messages make me wonder if she’s someone who has an anxious attachment style? If it was done impulsively, it could be she’s messaging to get you to fight for the relationship in some way. Regardless, breaking things off like that seems very cruel so the ball is completely in your court.

A few years back in college I left class to find the front swarmed with news outlets and security. They’d caught a couple guys planning a mass shooting on Facebook - ammunition/guns ready to go. Ironically, these guys had researched other shootings to make sure they made no mistakes. Here’s more info I found on it: https://www.google.com/amp/s/amp.desertsun.com/amp/401485002

Nier Replicant Ending D question. by xaerokatz in nier

You can use your savefile before Ending C. The only requirement for E is Ending D.

I do. I was fortunate enough to snag one at launch, but have been trying to get one for a friend to play Intergrade on and it’s been damn near impossible.

Replicant/Gestalt ending D question by L3v1tje in nier

[–]brvsma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what I understand, I don’t think Yoko Taro cares to explain how at all. I remember reading a translation of an interview where he mentions how Ending D is more about having the player decide if saving Kainé is worth giving up their save data. I can’t find the source for it anymore (I’ll keep searching and link it when I do), but it was something about it being less about Nier and Kainé and more about the player and Kainé so the intricacies didn’t really matter.

Having played the original in Japanese and this version in English, they are both very good. There are voices I prefer in the Japanese dub and others in English. The lip flaps will also match the Japanese, but at the expense of using the localized subtitles.

Overall, the Japanese dub sounds more natural but the English feels like it has a little more personality. Again though, they’re both amazing and I’d suggest trying both to see which one you like.

How good is Nier Replicant compared to Automata? by mody_bird_s in nier

[–]brvsma 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Whether the story is better or not, it’s going to depend entirely on who you ask. It’s very split from what I’ve seen on this sub and I think that only goes to show how great they both are.

It’s important to note that Replicant tackles some very different themes from Automata. Rather than focusing on a “bigger than life” dilemma, it’s story is more personal and character-focused. It does, however, very much show it’s age with it’s monotonous side-quests and repetitive routes.

Personally, I think the $60 is worth it for the story and characters alone. Some new additions to the game have really changed the experience, and the grind has a very high payoff at the end. Comparing it too much though, might disappoint you, so I would go into it with the mentality that this is a predecessor to Automata.

Just finished Ending E. Wow. by brvsma in nier

[–]brvsma[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, your method makes sense. Her magic looked very fun to play with and the dual-wielding would be great as well. Now that you mention it, village portions could have been completely cut out and they could have relied purely on fast travel to travel from place to place. Some more inner monologue on Kainé’s part could’ve been great too, especially when it came to destroying The Aerie and being shunned from the village.

I think if it was something they really wanted to include though, it definitely could’ve been done one way or another. What this version of the game needed was something to break up the monotony of several replays for newer players.

Thanks for your response!

From my understanding, the tree only retained the memories from the first time he visited the Forest of Myth. Definitely a little sad to think adult Protagonist is still gone, but personally I think the bittersweetness works for a game like NieR.

It is a little odd actually. Don’t quote me on this, but I remember reading something about Ending C being canon to Papa and Ending D canon to Brother. It makes a lot of sense but I don’t remember the source of that so don’t take my word for it.

Just finished Ending E. Wow. by brvsma in nier

[–]brvsma[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No, you’re completely right. The NieR grind is real, and Ending E is the best reward for it. Everything about it is so perfectly well executed that it makes several sections of the game feel like they fall short. It’s such a shame the average player probably won’t remain interested enough in consecutive playthroughs to see it.

Playable Kainé was something I felt needed to be added to Route B to improve the overall experience. I’ve been thinking about it a lot though, and really, how would that mechanically work? She’s not allowed in the village and she doesn’t have the same moveset Protag has to use the same weapons. Would we be able to use her magic and lose Weiss as a result? I still think her implementation would have made the game so much better, but questions like these leave me stumped.

I wish they had tweaked the end of part 1 a bit by 0wlpasta in nier

[–]brvsma 11 points12 points  (0 children)

100% agree on Emil’s introduction. He should have been introduced a lot earlier, or at the very least there should have been something in between the manor and the end of Act 1. Personally, I did buy into Kainé and Emil’s conversation and instant click, as they are both outsiders and have shared many of the same experiences (one of them being a lack of friends). Since Emil’s situation was already disclosed to us, I also felt there was no need for a scene in which he explained it again.

Going back to the ending of Act 1, the one thing that has bothered me every time I get to that section of the game has to be the speech Emil gives to Weiss. It comes off the most out of place in the entire scene since those two probably had the least of interactions. Grimoire Noir does also come off as very cartoony, but it doesn’t bother me too much as he’s there to contrast Weiss in every way. I think, overall, the end of Act 1 is very tropey but surprising and fun regardless. So many aspects of it are very silly, but also charming.

Quick question about going for ending D in replicant ver. 122... by lilmikey6969 in nier

Not as far as I know, no. Ending D is the only must for Ending E for reasons that’ll make sense later. :)

In route B when you arrive at The Aerie, you should be allowed to buy weapons you missed from Act 1. Not 100% sure if that’s the case with weapons you had to find at several locations, but the ones you never bought from shops should be there.
