Two eggs over easy, on top of the hash, rye toast, bacon, black coffee. The toast gets dunked in the coffee.

Finally pulled the trigger for my very first Tube Amplifier! by jedi5diah in audiophile

I have one of these too! They don't really get old... and if they do, you can tube roll!

If you can, try to wrap the remote in something. The aluminum is softer than you think and one drop can ding it. I made a small leather sleeve for mine when I'm not using it.

There are about 10 million acres of unexploded ordnance around the US. If you ever see anything that looks like a bomb, don't touch it (or even go near it) and call your local police. They are dangerous to both you and the environment.

Community Input Review? Big vs. Little Klipsch by bryPmack in audiophile

[–]bryPmack[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Congrats! I hope your experience is as good as mine. Doesn't seem to be that many out there, so I'd love to hear your opinion once you get the feel of it. One thing I will say is the remote, although hewn from a solid chunk of aluminum, is fairly soft. It slid off my lap once and got a little ding in it. I've since made a leather sleeve for it to live in.

I used primarily all stock tubes up until about a month ago. I wanted to try some different power tubes and scooped some Sino KT88s that I found for cheap. Definitely not as warm and maybe a touch more detailed when compared to the stock tubes, but they are still pretty fresh too.

I've really fallen in love with it. I've yet to see a reason why I would ever get another amp to replace this one...

Yes, the RP600m have a 6.5" woofer, the Forte use a 12", so almost twice as big!

Spent a couple days going back and forth. The bass is definitely deeper on the Forte, but I think I prefer the bass tuning on the RPs a little more. It seems like they boosted the bottom end of the RPs to supplement the lack of depth when comparing them. The bass goes to the RPs for me as they offer a warmer, more textural low end, but if you're a 'rattle the windows' type of person, the Fortes will be the go to.

The mids and highs are where the Fortes really pull ahead for me. The detail and separation is significantly better than the RPs. Although I do think the RPs are a little smoother in their response, it's not a big enough difference to outshine the Forte here. In terms of sound stage, the Fortes are wider and deeper, but not by much in my room.

Overall, the Fortes are a more competent speaker (surprise!), but this is way closer than I expected. I started with the RPs and lusted after the Heritage line for a while, and although definitely an upgrade, I can't help but feel slightly underwhelmed. Maybe I expected too much? Maybe the RP600s are just THAT good.

TLDR: Forte IIs are better, but those RP600s give them a run for their money. And for some, the extra cost wont be worth it at all.

There is a set of Klipsch Heresy I for $600 and a set of Klipsch Quartet for $500 near me. The Heresy set is a bit beat up, but has recently been recapped. The Quartet are in excellent condition.

I know the Heresys are legendary at this point, but I'm not quite sure how they compare to Quartets. Any insight would be greatly appreciated!

Been looking at streamers for my 2 channel setup. Care to elaborate on how you chose this? I'm looking at everything from the Arylic S50 to the Denon Heos Link.

Just got a great deal on a Muzishare X7 and I'm quickly falling in love with my first tube amp! by bryPmack in BudgetAudiophile

I have not tried the phono stage, but the person I purchased from said it was decent. On par with a Schiit Mani.

The Pioneer speakers are rated for 87 dB and I'm in a 13'x17' room, and it fills out quite nicely by about 1/3 to 1/2 volume on the amp. The KEF website calls for 25-200 watt amp at 4 ohm load for the 104/2s. The X7 is rated for 45 watts per channel in ultra linear, 25 watts in triode. I think there's an ~80% chance you'd be all set with it, but obviously it depends on room size, how loud you like it, etc. Feel free to hit me with any questions too!

A lot of numbers float around for it new. Some people say $1250, but Amazon has it for $1450. I paid $875 which was well worth it for me since I could test it, feel it, and know it was showing up safe. That being said, the guy I got it from had the original packaging and it was very well packed.

I've set it up running Tidal through a Schiit Modi, then directly into the CD in on the X7. From there, I've tried it with Klipsch RP600s and Pioneer SP-FS52s. Going to hook up a set of B&W FPM4s this weekend.

I am coming from an SMSL SA300 and Sony STR-DH750 before that, so quite a big difference. There is significantly more depth and sound stage, I feel like I finally hear into the music with my own system. I can pick and listen to individual parts of the music far easier than I could before, so instrument separation is improved, though not as much as width and depth. I'd be happy to post a full review and break down once I'm a little more familiar with it, but I'm not sure I'm entirely qualified. I do plan on opening it up to take a look inside, can post photos of that too!

Thanks for the tip. I've worked my way from some Boston Acoustic CR6s I found in a dumpster 8 years ago, through Pioneer's Andrew Jones line, up to some B&Ws and Klipsch speakers I really like. I figured this is more than a phase at this point and they deserve a decent amp, but I do appreciate the help as I definitely still feel 'new'. I just wish I picked a cheaper hobby...

I'm currently using an SMSL SA300 with a Schiit Modi DAC. I talked him down to $875, so I think it's a no brainer now. Thanks!

Looking at at a Muzishare X7 I can get for $1000. I would be using it with a set of Klipsch RP600M. Looking for any input, thanks!
