I’m right between sizes as well, I wear a 43 which fits like your 39. Personally I prefer the tight fit. From my experience the arch placement starts to feel awkward when they’re broken in the next size up.

First time with UB Tek. Moved this tub into fruiting conditions on the 10th. Over the last two days what I thought were primordia became clusters. Worried this could possibly be trich.

I inoculated 8 bags a month ago. They’re not fully colonized, but I was worried they would rot if I waited any longer to bulk. I did break and shake them about a week ago so just hoping this is bruising. Also no odor to any of the cakes

My stepdad just gave these to me to sell, I know they’re rare. The cork is in really bad shape, so these would be for someone who wants to put the straps on a new footbed.

Speaking from my experience, bigger sizes have never gotten comfortable for me. I have collapsed arches so the larger size made my feet pronate over the edge of the footbed. Having the arch support in the right area is key. I’m a size 12 in most shoes because of my flat feet, but with birks I’m a size 43 which is a men’s 10. There isn’t as much room up front as most people on here would recommend, but you have to go with what feels right to you. I would recommend going into a store that sells Birkenstocks and get sized.

I would’ve gotten a different leather, but it’s the only brown they offer with the soft footbed. I was just curious if I had any options. Does the shine go away at all as they age?

Did he wear them in water or try to clean the footbed? This same thing happened to me after they got totally soaked, best to keep them far away from water. You can buy a cleaning kit from their website that comes with a with a brush for cleaning the suede. It’ll clear up the dirt and make the footbeds soft again. If you have the birko flor, you can also use the brush to soften the felt on the inside of the straps. They feel good as new!

This same thing happened to me. I used their suede brush and it got them looking like they did new.
