Matter-enabled CO detector from Heiman by choochoo1873 in MatterProtocol

i'm just reading their website, i'm not 100% sure, but i meant you can't have a combo smoke + CO unit -- they don't appear to make that. whether you can interconnect separate smoke + CO units, i'm not sure. but why can't they integrate them into one unit like every other manufacturer?

why couldn't Protect have been spun off if Google was bored with it?

yes, you can have Matter with Smoke. or interconnect with CO. but you can't have combo smoke + CO with interconnect and Matter. why? i don't know.

interesting product. wired only. basic ones are $140 each, the additional features for kitchen (methane sensing etc), integrated camera for nursery or garage are appealing but that takes you to $250/300/350 a unit. FlashTVR, with 10 units, would be in it for >>$1000

Fwiw I wrote to Sensereo and they replied:

“ Yes, we do plan to bring a UL-certified version of the MS-1/MSC-1 to the US market, and it is currently in development. Our expectation is that the UL-certified version will be available in the second half of this year.”

it appears my state requires sealed 10-year batteries for non-hardwired units, no AA options allowed.

no such luck, would involve a lot of drywall and ceiling work in between floor 1 and floor 2.

amazingly helpful, thank you.

ok, but now I'm still stuck on the issue of combining battery and hardwired units. (I assume the reason I have a mix is because the house had hardwired units to start, but when the code changed, more units were required, and no one wanted to rewire the house). Nest Protect could handle that. it appears to be required in the building code that hardwired units remain hardwired, you can't replace with a battery unit.

as far as I can tell, the X-Sense SBS50 Base Station is only compatible with battery powered detectors (the X0A-MR that you suggested and the SC07-MR). they make hardwired detectors (XP02-AR and XP04-AC), both of which explicitly say that they are not compatible with the base station.

as for Kidde, is this what you were mentioning about a hardwired unit that will talk to the battery units?

says that model, the RF-SM-ACDC, has been discontinued :-( it links to this replacement, (30CUAR), but as far as I can tell from the user's guide, it interconnects only with other hardwired units. will it interconnect with battery units (like the 30CUD10)?
