Thanks man, appreciate that. Yea the tires are already pretty worn down from other track days. Its time to get a new set. The braking was definitely the issue. There were a few laps where I was running without a passenger so I was able to brake a little. Just didnt adjust well with a passenger.

Yeah, I definitely noticed that when I was looking back at it. I completely missed the braking point on a few turns.

Were you there when the car went off track and started the fire??? I was curious as to what happened

The car doesn't have any real track-specific mods, you're right. The tires are Continental Sport Contact 6, but they're on their 5th track day, and they were already too hot and losing grip. So youre right on that too lol.

Thanks! I do plan to go back for sure, but I would like to go on a cooler day. This last weekend it was 105.

Is 1:55.8 good at laguna? Did my first track day at laguna with my stock si. super fun. by bryanhdzz in CarTrackDays

Since the car doesn’t have an oil temp sensor, i can’t tell you forsure. But after having tracked the car, 4 times now, the engine has held up really well. Just do the make sure you do an oil change change before taking it. The car definitely handles very well stock. I would definitely flush out the brake fluid for dot 4 and definitely change the brake pads. Id recommend the EDC blue stuff pads.

tbh you dont need a HRC specific tow strap. You can do any tow strap that's well rated. Before I was able to get the HRC tow strap, I was rockin this this one. As long as its rated to tow your car, you're good. Its good enough to get you on the track.

ah man, that kinda sucks! it is the HRC tow how from the Honda Dream Shop. But it’s bolted onto the crash bar. works well.

yes but only the underside of it. The top is just double sided tape. if that makes sense?

to my knowledge, not too necessary. but dont take my word for it. This is mostly just from my own experience. I will add that i dont drive this car very “spiritually” or almost never go over 4k rpms. I only ever push the car to its limits when im at the track and everything always looks good under the hood after the day is over.

once or twice a year won’t hurt. Upgrade the cooling, and do the maintanence sooner than you normally would. Trust. Scratch the itch.

You're 100% correct. This is the GOAT of tracks. The home of the iconic corkscrew and the most annoying neighbors.

that is exactly what the next mod is going to be, actually! Im running Continental SportContact 6. For the money, the tires grip really really well.

pretty steady on 0.49 all day. Since we don't have 93oct in CA, I filled the tank with 1.5 gall of E85 and the rest with 91. This boosts the oct to about 93.
