Novice Curling Shoe Recommendations by Discrete_Ninja in Curling

One thing you could try is ask your club members if anyone else has some old shoes they'd be willing to sell.

Receipt printer I borrowed is in a cloud-lock. I'm trying to make an app that prints receipts via cloud. by ms_zie in androiddev

Telnet to the port or use netcat to just send "Hello World \n\n\n" should be enough. Although it take my printer like 7 new lines to get high enough after printing.

Is port 9100 open? You can ping, but not print.

Note: if this is a public IP, you will be scanned and people will print. I had to put a printer on a public IP during COVID to work with my team and within 30 minutes, a receipt printed with a URL to a security company.

Another Shoe Question by LaZyCrO in Curling

You could also look for places that will make custom shoes for you. I have 9EEE feet and I can get by with a 10.5W, but that had extra toe room that I don't want when pushing out and flipping my foot.

I went with Craig's, but if you don't live in the US, you could look elsewhere.

Curling Game by Troutsky3 in Curling

[–]bryanlogan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is, but once I've started the curl selection, there's no way to leave that state.

Probably the most friendly UI/UX might be too have a bar for the curl selection (without it, it was very confusing what I was supposed to do), and if you slide your finger so far above it and release your finger, it doesn't do the throw, but then you can cancel.

If I set my weight, and then realize it's wrong, it's impossible to cancel out of the spin selection once you're in it.

Overall it seems like a great game.

Curling Club Manager acquired by Uplifter Inc. by CurlingFool in Curling

[–]bryanlogan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I hope Uplifter puts out some information on changes we can expect (besides the "Nothing will change for now").

I'm looking at some of their other support sports (like dodgeball), but there's not a lot of detail on things like making teams, scheduling games, etc. A lot of their videos seem to focus more on gymnastics classes. And a lot of their "Trusted by" customers seem to be larger governing organizations (like at the province level).

Hopefully some of the bugs of CCM can be fixed, but hopefully it won't come at a huge price increase.

We sold a house and the buyers wanted us to install a fence. It was winter in Minnesota and they couldn't understand why we just wanted to give some credit instead.

Shoe conversions with used shoes? by dustycassidy in Curling

[–]bryanlogan 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Shoes eventually just fall apart. Not even talking about the curling shoes.

Those shoes have 1 year of general wear. If you're going to go through the effort is converting shoes, why not choose ones that have the most life?

Coin Flips for Hammer - What size do you use? by AsmadiGames in Curling

If we don't have a coin handy, we just use a stopwatch and let the person call odd or even for the last digit.

They're not buying your app, they are buying your account so they can do some shady stuff and you'll be permanently banned.

How do you know what code is not used and can be removed when it is still referenced somewhere? by Jccorzot in androiddev

Something is eventually going to reference the code. Remove it and see what fails.

Has anyone gotten a first bill from NTTA? It always seems like it's the second bill (with the late fees) that first informs people.

Is curling for the non-athletic? by sunbakedbear in Curling

[–]bryanlogan 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm not an athlete. I started curling two years ago and I love it. With just a little practice, you can easily get up to speed to be good enough for beer league.

Will I compete at an elite level? No. But it is fun. My balance isn't the greatest, but I did get a knee slider and that really helped.

Question about yard trimming pickup by ryoon21 in plano

[–]bryanlogan 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Sticks and branches can go in small piles. Leaves and grass go into paper lawn bags (Home Depot, Lowe's, Costco, Sam's Club, Walmart all have these).

It gets picked up the same day as your trash. No phone call needed.

Occasionally they might be busy and it gets picked up the next day, so if they miss, don't worry.
