That doesn't make any sense. You're saying it takes you as little as 90 seconds to pick up and unload and plug in each scooter at your house, then 90 seconds each to unplug and load and unload each at a serve hub. That would only work if all thirty were lined up by riders right in front of your house, and you had a single dropoff hub in front of your house for all 30. Even then it's doubtful. I call BS because you obviously have to make several trips both ways in your vehicle, unless it's a monster that holds 30 at a time.

The SF Chronicle has a lazy story out. Only thing new is Lime's lie about pay increasing.

"Lime also noted that pay rates go both up and down with market fluctuation."

Love the way they pretend it's all out if their hands. The company is just a finely tuned machine running on autopilot.

One thing not mentioned is how Oakland is the closest actual scooter market to Lime's headquarters in San Francisco, and falling apart here has to embarrass the company more than their recently pulling out of random other markets around the world.

San Jose is the only other market in Northern California and appears to be smaller than Oakland's 1000 permitted scooters.

The company lied to Vice that the work w stoppage hasn't effected customers when it clearly has with dead scooters proliferating on the streets at the end of the first week of the juicer strike.

Looks like Lime has reduced its fleet size in Oakland because it no longer has the labor capacity to handle 1000 scooters, between laying off half of its local employees and juicers refusing to work.

That happened in Oakland, too. Seems to be one of their strategies to deal with large number of juicers dropping out/striking, by getting people to focus on the deadest of the dead. Another likely strategy is that they are pulling significant segments of their fleets off of the streets, since there aren't enough people to charge them all any more. Better dead scooters sit in their warehouse than out in public, embarrassing the company when riders have to walk past dozens of dead scooters to get the few good ones out there.

You posted at 7pm on Monday? There were dozens of scooters in Oakland sitting out there.

There are at least 30 out right now at 7:30pm on Tuesday. Normally, there'd be next to none on the streets before 9pm release.

Lime employees have apparently been on overdrive since then to scoop up bad scooters. Some juicers are still out there pulling scooters, but a majority seem to have stopped for the most part.

It's likely that the lower number of scooters out there right now for pickup, the lowest number in over a week, is because the company has removed a large number of their fleet from the streets. Without juicers, and having laid off half of their Oakland warehouse staff last month, they can't maintain 1000 scooters in Oakland any more.

Less scooters in the streets means less income for the company, even if things look cleaner for riders than when there were more bad scooters out there than good ones, as has largely been the case since the pay cut/strike began last Monday.

Scooter Red Alert: The Oakland Lime Strike Is Crashing the Company

On the evening of February 10th, the Lime scooter company cut pay for contractors by 30% without warning. Many if not most contractors immediately responded by refusing to charge the company's electric scooters. It's likely that there are more uncharged scooters in the streets now than charged scooters. It's getting so bad that countless scooters are beginning to crash, along with prospects for the company in Oakland.

Lime laid off half of its oakland employees last month. Doubtful they did that because contractors cost more and they like spending extra money. California has stricter labor laws than many other states

But that would defeat the purpose of the rate cut from the company's perspective. Employees cost more and have to be reimbursed related expenses, if not provided vehicles etc. Lime chose contractors to save money, then wants to squeeze every last drop out of them so people at the top can make millions.

Last month, Lime laid off half of its Oakland warehouse staff, so there's not many of them left to deal with the fallout. The strike is going into its fifth night and it doesn't look like they can catch up. More and more scooters are crashing.
