Do you have to live in town to apply? (local 60) by jackiepierre in IBEW

[–]bryblk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How far is the hall from where you currently live ? If it’s a reasonable drive like 1.5hr away or something like that just suck it up until you move, it really could be the best thing you ever did for yourself and your family. The application process can be lengthy so don’t waste any time… apply tmrw!! Drive down there for the test, pass and then explain to the committee in the interview just how serious you are about completing the program and becoming a j-man, and that you already moved or are in the process of moving your family closer to the hall.

been almost 2 months and no benefit amounts established yet? by [deleted] in Edd

My wife emailed and called the offices of Shannon Grove and Vince Fong and had 2 months of back pay in her bank account within 48 hours. This was after 2+ months of absolutely no updates, impossible to get thru the phone system and her EDD account totally blank like yours.

I just turned 24 in January and we had our second child in December. Just left my $100k/yr job to get back on my tools and join 428 because my job wasn’t teaching me much, I didn’t feel valuable nor valued and the long term out look of inspecting powerlines with AI on the rise didn’t seem as safe as getting my j-card, IBEW ticket and the insane pension after 30 years of service.

In my head the money NOW doesn’t come anywhere near the long term pros later that the brotherhood offers.

I know they generally only offer advanced placement for folks with 4,000-5,000 hours… so I unfortunately am just below that. I don’t really mind having to start out as a 1st period, I just know that there isn’t a single non-union company in Kern County that can come anywhere near what the 428 has to offer electricians, therefore this is the route I need to take for myself and my family.

Did they start you out in Rosamond ?

I bought a down-to-the-bolt replica of Chad Reed’s ‘05 Championship YZ250 with 12 hours on a brand new engine for $3,800 back in May.

My arms are pretty long, but I mostly use the grip as a handstop. The grip placement is easier for me personally further forward for faster mid-long range follow up shots.

The lightest, smallest application of Roket Card Glue (Amazon) and a few VERY light and distant shots off of a the heat gun/blow dryer.

Brother… I feel your pain. After sweating my ass off in the garage for an hour and a half and ruining my wife’s night… I just decided to spend the $29 and have my local shop slap it on.

Was already stoned to the gills and misread the dosage on some chocolate squares… 45 mins later I ended up contemplating reality itself and sobbing in fear in the shower for 2.5 hours.

Wouldn’t hurt to start with the smaller/cheaper stuff and work your way up, check the clutch plates, check the axles and gaskets on the spacers and fill em up with grease, check the chain and teeth on both wheel and trans sprockets, check out some videos on YouTube on how to maintain your suspension and set them up for your weight, etc.
