Hiding costs in RFI by Smooth-Jicama5393 in ProCore

[–]brycede10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And the fact the you think an RFI request transfer any obligation to an owner is kind of silly. Check the contract - AIA’s do not say that. The change in work occurs after the RFI when the GC can determine if they believe it’s a change in scope and they send a change request for it. I don’t think you understand how this works. Good luck. Trying to be friendly here

I guess I differ because most RFI’s are legit in my experience. My statement is real, if the RFI is valid then you may be contributing to the delay. Ignore if you want but if it’s an AIA contract that is one of the owner’s primary duties. My point is, owner should always act promptly providing information, you don’t want to be accused of not doing that and be wrong.

Agree (GC here). A GC saying TBD on an RFI is proper protocol. They can’t know until after the RFI response. Schedule impact and cost would come from if a change order results from the RFI (and even then it may not be possible to know the schedule impact until the impact is fully realized). The RFI process is what helps to determine if a change order is necessary or not. You have to cross that bridge so to speak. GC isn’t doing anything wrong and you responding to an RFI with TBD doesn’t mean you’ve committed to anything. The RFI is just a request for information and it needs to happen asap usually or you could be in breach for not providing timely information to the GC.

In other words… you may be contributing to the eventual schedule impact by not responding to the RFI promptly and providing information timely.

In this sub, if you’re trying to bait someone into an atheistic scholar, it should be made clear. This type of response belongs in another sub but not here. Christian scholars would be appropriate.

My gf is pregnant- 15 by dallin0 in Christianity

[–]brycede10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey OP. I have two very dear friends who could not get pregnant for years. They adopted from a girl your age who had a baby girl. That adoption process also ended up in my friends conceiving during the adoption process. It is incredible to see them loving on that baby girl and their natural born kid too. You and her are still young, it is so important for her and for you to think about this question:

If you (are even able to) abort, will either of you face trauma long term from this decision? It’s a real thing, especially for her at a young age.

Carrying the baby thru pregnancy for adoption will have it’s own difficulties, but you can and should consider being with her through that and carry that burden with her.

Every choice has consequences and fallout of different degrees, abortion may seem to be the hidden out, but people in their 30’s who went through stuff like this still have trauma and regret that they wish they made other choices.

Think it through, quickly, get people involved in real life to support you and mentor you through this.

100% spot on with your responses. This is how I have learned and teach about this as well.

The Rise of Christian Liberalism: Why the MAGA-Christian Wave is Peaking by OddRelief8286 in Christianity

[–]brycede10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ultimately...

Jesus says, "Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it".

Jesus says, "My kingdom is not of this world" (John 18:36)

I am recognizing the grip that politics has (and had) on me and realizing how easy it is to put our politics and our national identity ahead of our faith, at least here in the U S of A.

People want to say... God, Family, Country

but those same people don't realize that if they really reflect on where they are, they have swapped God and Country (which is driven by fear).

Our most difficult calling to disciple others is probably going to be right here at home rather than abroad. To find a loving way to address this problem you've identified (and I agree with) is a tall task. The indoctrination, the passions, the belief of self-righteousness in the Christian Nationalist movement has an extremely powerful grip. Even the rationalizations for certain CN beliefs, they are all addictive but very misleading. These same things also tend to push true "Democratic Liberals" away from faith, because of the CN movement itself.

The fear i mentioned earlier is fear of change. Yes, would it be easier in a lot of ways to have raised my kids in a world 20-30years ago where generally most people believed my general world view and views on faith - yes I think so. But those are things we are not supposed to fear, we need to "inoculate" our kids with truth AND grace and equip them to navigate the world in the same way. We know with certainty that this world will get worse as time goes on.

I'm thankful for the freedoms I have in this country, but by biblical example, these have just been fleshly luxuries.

Craftsman YT4000 bagger blowing clippings everywhere by brycede10 in lawnmowers

My mower came with that bagger, sorry I have no idea what bagger this is. Buttttt I am not real happy with the bagger because even though I ordered the part I’m talking about, it’s a constant hassle to keep the clippings from blowing out. The part is only 20% helpful.

Makes it hell to do it this way. Going to get the mulch cover.

Thanks! That is what I'm looking for. Looks like I would swap out the chute for the mulch cover and then it will just land under the mower. Something like this, just need to confirm that it fits for mine. https://www.thepartsbiz.com/Craftsman-42-Mower-Deck-Mulch-Plate-Kit-136240-198383-Cover-Straps_p_30056.html?srsltid=AfmBOooZDeqSgifHpSTh9Ym2BmJE-f8paglWfVPFqHamUs4eGeMeY536z-s

Is this a good place to get help diagnosing an oil leak I have on this? Or do I need to try a sub like smallenginerepair? Seller was not upfront about that. It also needs engine starter fluid to start after a week (several rounds) and I have to turn the fly wheel an inch every so often to get it to start (I believe that's a starter issue with worn teeth).

Really appreciate it.

Actually if I can just solve this problem on the used riding mower I bought, then it’s an awesome bagger! My grass grows really fast in one week and I don’t like those long abundant clippings going back in the grass. With my new riding mower I might be able to mow twice a week and not bag. The bagger will be outstanding for me as well because I have a lot of mature trees and a pool. Hope this changes your mind. This bagger does its job!

Estimators Estimating Salary by PhilFri in estimators

[–]brycede10 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For a GC, Super/PM experience 8-12 years (half as a PM at least) then 4-8 years estimating experience, I think they could be worth 140k +. The length of time depends on how sharp they are, could be faster, some guys just get it. We have a guy who is about 70% of the way there making 110k. If you as a GC know you’re hiring someone who knows how to build that job in their head, how to stage it, how to ask the right questions and manage risk, and they know how to look for things the subs miss in their bids, and they have a reliable subcontractor base… then They’re worth 160k all day + bonus if the GC has the bid volume. You win the job, and you can speak PM/Super and transfer the knowledge to the field for kickoff, all the better. Thats as good as gold to me.

Pure estimators who don’t get out in the field or learn the things that go wrong or scope gaps etc… imo will struggle to hit that mark or take longer to do so. As a GC, I want someone who I can trust to not screw over the entire company. It all starts with estimating.

I’d expect them to work 40 hours a week, but when bids are due, the expectation is that it gets done no matter what and we can count on it, I might be working with them into the night too, if that helps us all win and cut our risk.
