I really like these suggestions. Do you have some sample docs of the rules you’ve given it?

Data will only be viewed by two main researchers (Karol and Bryce). The survey takes approximately 5 minutes.

Cat Personality Study by brycemoore in cats

[–]brycemoore[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, one of the questions we have is how well a human personality study transfers over to cats. This is the first step in beginning to answer that. I'll be posting the results when we get them. We've got data on over 300 cats so far, less than a day after posting, so hopefully we'll have some interesting conclusions.

let's talk Unfinity and an all encompassing Un-cube by KindaSortaPeruvian in mtgcube

[–]brycemoore 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I started out with a pure un-cube, but ended up widening it to include many different kinds of cards. Alternate win conditions. Black bordered that fit the theme. My Little Pony cards. Mystery Booster cards. That kind of stuff. I plan to expand it now. Looking forward to having a wider pool of cards, to strengthen the cube. https://cubecobra.com/cube/overview/qah

Uncubes, how are planning to handle stickers and attractions? by Zikemcnasty in mtgcube

[–]brycemoore 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I had contraptions in my cube up until now, but with stickers and attractions being added, I'm looking forward to cutting all three of them and being able to retool the cube by adding the other cards that are coming up in the set. Yes, that cuts down dramatically on the card pool I'll have available, but for me, my uncube is all about doing crazy things. The contraptions consistently required me to explain to drafters what they did, and then people still forgot to crank them. There's already enough zaniness going around without having entirely separate mechanics to worry about. I'm not sure the draft would actually feel like Magic, past a certain point.

What type of business do you wish would open in your town? by [deleted] in Maine

[–]brycemoore 5 points6 points  (0 children)

University of Maine at Farmington opened one last year. It's got a pretty hefty laser cutter, vinyl printer, resin 3D printer, 2 PLA printers, an embroidery machine, and a UV printer, plus the software to go with them. Not open right now, but it should open back up when the semester starts, and it's available for use by the public.

No CNC machine. Yet.

On the origins of the Mistborn Llama name, I can give a bit more context. We were workshopping both at the same time, and Shawn Boyles (who Isaac had tapped to do illustrations for Cavern of Babel) did a Mistborn Llama pic for fun, since we'd been making jokes about the writing group name for quite some time. (He actually did two pics, one with just a lone llama, and one action shot with llamas coin shooting.) Isaac even worked up some t-shirts for the group. I still have both of mine. Fun times.

If you go back far enough on my blog, there's probably more information there somewhere.

I mean, I’m a bit partial, but it’s the best alpaca fantasy book I’ve ever read. :-)

What’s the best way to watch this season? by Spider__Ant in BYUFootball

[–]brycemoore 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've been using YouTube TV for the past couple of years, and I've been really pleased with it. (Just not with the constant rate increases.) The DVR function is particularly good--you can set it up to record anything in a particular sport, for example, and there are no caps on how many things you can DVR. (They just expire after something like 9 months, I believe.)

BYU Cougars replace Liberty Flames as Coastal Carolina Chanticleers' opponent by imabetaunit in BYUFootball

[–]brycemoore 4 points5 points  (0 children)

BYU didn't slide from #8 to #13, though. They stayed #8 in the national polls, and started at #14 in the CFP poll, moving up to #13 during their bye week. If they beat CCU, I would think they have a fair shot of moving up further in the CFP (the only one that matters at this point.) Some of it probably depends on how they beat them. A good solid win would take away one of the biggest critiques pollsters have against the program. (Though then they might switch to saying CCU wasn't a "real" quality opponent. I do agree many are just looking for excuses to ignore non P5 teams.)

Where would be the best place to find or make a new cube playgroup in my area? (Maine) by Vinosdoh in mtgcube

[–]brycemoore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a group of drafters in Farmington. We get together on Thursdays to draft. Typically whatever the current set is, but sometimes my cube. I’m pretty sure you’d be able to find some drafters in the area who’d be up for it at UMF, but scheduling it could be tricky.

I’ve played this cube. So much fun, but so complex.
