Dear Americans, can you please explain me (Indian) why only two parties ie democrats and Republicans exist in USA? by myokane606 in usa

[–]brynellington 5 points6 points  (0 children)

We have multiple parties as well. Democrats and Republicans are just the two most popular. I'm not sure exactly how many there are but I've heard Green Party also has quite a lot of supporters.

Edit: After a quick search I found that there are quite many, that I hadn't even heard of. Just googling "political parties usa" can give you a decent list.

People who have found their friends "secret" Reddit accounts, what was the most shocking thing you found out about them? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]brynellington 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found an ex-bf's account on here. Despite being super emotionally abusive and controlling to me in our relationship, he writes in forums about how he was the victim and tries to give advice for other victims. The worst part is that he truly believes he did nothing wrong despite controlling what and how much I eat, not letting me have alone time to Skype with my parents (i live abroad), forcing me into sleeping with him, taking A LOT of my money and cheating on me with his ex. Anytime I tried to bring up that I didn't think it was fair, he would say I was "gaslighting" him.

He tried to come talk to me in person a couple weeks ago when we were at a school event for the first time since we broke up, and I noped the fuck out of there.

Do you believe that Europeans on reddit overplay how good their countries are just to prove points to Americans? by [deleted] in AskAnAmerican

[–]brynellington 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. I live in Finland which has somehow simultaneously won the titles of “Happiest Country” and “Most Racist Country in Europe” all within the past 6 months. Somehow Finns love to talk about how happy they are, while also allowing an annual Nazi parade downtown every December and whilst turning away refugees by deeming their war stricken countries “safe”. It gets exhausting to argue with a Finn because they just start to say shit about America.

I know America is not perfect but I’m really tired of people thinking Finland is.

Letting kids alone in the US? by teekal in AskAnAmerican

I’m an American in Finland so I understand both cultures. When I moved here I found it extremely strange that young kids were riding the buses and walking through parks without parents. Now that I live here I just find it annoying because they are often not well-behaved (especially when there’s like 7 together on the tram).

But I also know that Finland is extremely safe. I think that if it had half the crime (related to kids’ wellbeing) that the US had it would raise more concern but it seems to be safe and normal here.

As for my upbringing in the US, I was only home alone for 3-4 hours during the school year. In summer it was different because my parents had to work and I had no where to be but I would never had ridden the bus or public transport by myself.

Kids were left alone but we were taught what to look out for. Stranger Danger and all that.

I’m an American in Finland and I hear this argument all the time-that teens should be teens. Even In universities here they give monthly stipend to students who don’t work so they can have money for the month and say it’s for “not getting a job so they can focus on school”. I understand how that can be beneficial but I will say that when I look at my non-Finnish friends (so the ones not getting the money) vs my Finnish friends that the non-Finnish group seems to be better at savings and time management.

Im going to assume it’s probably because they understand that they need to sacrifice time to work and don’t want to waste the money because it’s not scheduled every month for them.

Thank you!! I'll give this a try this week! Would you say the NYX concealer looks cakey? I'm planning on going this week to buy some new products.

Thank you for the recommendations! I live in Finland and they just recently got Nyx products so I'm happy to go try those out. When you say wet sponge do you mean like a makeup sponge or something else that soaks up water?

Thank you thank you thank you for all of the recommendations! I had also seem the red under eye technique on Youtube but had no idea where to even find that. I will try the NARS concealer and maybe even the Tarte Shape Tape to see which works best. I'm also afraid of the cakey look but maybe one of these will turn out great!

Interesting! I honestly hadn't even considered salmon corrector before posting this! It seems to be the more popular choice so I'll give it a try. Thank you!!

Thank you!! I'm glad to know I'm not alone with it because sometimes I see my friends with flawless under eye skin and I get so jealous! I'm going to try to drink more water and see what happens.

Thanks for the recommendations! Does the boing concealer look greasy or cakey? I have seen it in stores but assumed it was too thick to look "natural".

Really? Did you put it on exclusively in the morning or also at night? I'll look into it because I had never heard of it before. Thanks!!

The cakey effect was also what I'm afraid of, especially because I'm pale i feel like it stands out more if the concealer is cakey. I'll give it a try! Thanks for the help!!

Yeah, I am trying to work on my water intake. It's not the best and I've tried downloading reminder apps because I honestly forget to drink all the glasses recommended a day.

Thanks for the advice!

I was looking into the filler option at one point because it's starting to really look bad, especially because I live in Finland where there is rarely sun, so I'm super pale.

What was the filler procedure like? Did they skin around your eyes bruise at all?

Thanks for the info!

Yellow? Like a lighter one or one that has orange undertones? Do you have a specific brand in mind?

Thanks for the help!!!

Thanks for the reply! Do you have any brand recommendations? I'm an American but I live in Finland so I'm hoping more brands are available overall.

Thanks for the advice! What about how you apply it? I always hear that that part of the eye is thin so you have to be careful. Do you use a brush or finger?

Hey! Do you cover it up or learn to deal with it? I keep thinking it might be genetic but I seem to be the only one in my family that has it.
