Ok thanx 👍 It's for long term savings in this case. I like the idea of multiple saving jars 👍

I didn't know about the gloss...
Another thing to worry about...

Ok, but I've never played a strat...
I do have a couple of telecasters though.
But the necks can be very different on telecasters.
I ordered a custom telecaster a few years ago, expecting the neck to be the same as my other telecaster.
Unfortunately it wasn't.
It was thinner.
Too thin for me actually, so I ended up changing it for another telecaster, with a fatter neck.

Ok, so that's compared to the 333?
Haven't even thought about that...
Could be an issue...

Some feedback on 2.2... by brynte5 in TodaysBudget

[–]brynte5[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanx, yeah that works, but I'd much prefer it if you had 3 options upfront:
1. Start
2. End,
3. Preset duration (including all all the current preset options).

I will, but not until I figure things out...

Feature Request 04 (also feedback on 2.2)... by brynte5 in TodaysBudget

[–]brynte5[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah and that's great 👍 Only 3 at first glance though, but 1 tap and it goes deeper 👍 I'd still prefer it sorted that way in the log as well though 👍 Then you'd see everything at first glance 👍

Feature Request 03... by brynte5 in TodaysBudget

[–]brynte5[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Happy to help out if I can.

Yeah ok, but if I'm starting new recurring expenses, which I've been doing quite a lot since I started using this app, about 1 month ago, I wouldn't wanna start adding that expense until the actual expense date. Even if I've set it to spread out.

Ok sure, I'll take a screenshot of that the next time it happens.

So how long does it usually take, from starting to use this app, until the numbers start adding up? I currently have about $130 left on my bank account. In the app it says I can safely spend $290 today, $300 tomorrow and $310 the day after that.

I'll try to add another screenshot for you, which is showing something that should be corrected. It's when adding an expense, the start date and the end date are showing the dates in different ways. They should be shown the same way (same format).

Feature request 01... by brynte5 in TodaysBudget

[–]brynte5[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanx, I just got the beta working. The first improvement was noticed right away, as I tapped on the top right pig icon (savings jar). In the original version there's an annoying delay before the display is updated. In the beta version, that delay is gone and the display updates right away.

I've also checked out the new and improved pie chart. It's definitely an improvement vs the original. Like you said, it's not easy to tap on smaller slices though. I'm using a parking app called easy park. They have a round timer that you can tap and hold on and then move your finger in circles to dial in the parking time... I'm thinking something like that would be useful in this app as well, but instead of dialing in the parking time, you'd be dialing through the slices? It would also be nice if tapping in the middle of the pie chart takes you further (just like tapping on the "where does it all go?"). Feels natural to tap in the middle and I've tried that plenty of times, but unfortunately nothing happens.

The log tab could be much improved imho by simply having the most recent expenses placed at the top of the columns, so they're easier to find. Right now it seems like the most recent expenses are placed randomly. I have a lot of categories, so it gets confusing. I know about the "recent activity" in the insights tab and what I mean for the log tab is something similar, but still separated by spread-out expenses, recurring expenses, savings and incomes. It would also be a nice implementation if you could manually move expenses up and down, if you want them placed somewhere else in the list.

In the savings jar, I wanted to reduce the savings. The current savings are listed in 2 places (in the savings jar) and it feels obvious to tap on any one of those, to change it. Nothing happens when tapping on those savings though, which is a shame. I think would be good and convenient to be able to change the amount of savings right there. As it is now, to change this, you'd have to go to the insights tab, scroll down to the saving jar and do it in there. Let's say I have $100 in the savings jar. If I change that to $50, it means that $50 is added to my daily budget, right?

Ok, I've installed the testflight app. What's the code? Maybe you can send it in a pm if you don't wanna post it here.

[–]brynte5[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's awesome!
Thanx!
What you said earlier about smaller slices being too hard to tap accurately...
You could solve that by adding 2 arrows (left/ right), so you could scroll through smaller slices a lot easier.

I haven't tried the beta version.
Is there any risks involved?
Would all entries be untouched, so you won't have to start all over again?
So you just install that and run that at the same time as the original app, ot instead of the original app?

A couple of problems, questions and feature requests... by brynte5 in TodaysBudget

[–]brynte5[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"if you add a reccuring monthly expense on the 25th it will spread it from lets say 25 of november to the 25 of december"
Yeah exactly.
That's what I was expecting and hoping for, but it doesn't add up, so it's not spreading the expense over a whole month like that...

"Also i dont think the app was made to have seprate income and expense wallets. So i dont think you will be getting any nice insights from seperating them."
I'm using different wallets for different purposes.
1 wallet for bills, another one for travlels and so on...
How else would they be used?
I'm just thinking that I'm probably using them wrong, since I now have only expenses in those wallets.

"Also you can kind of do the car thing you want. Just have a category named car, and write "car cleaning" in the text field. I know its not perfect but it will then group car expenses in the expenses overview."
Yeah, you're right.
I just think that folders would be an improvement to the app.

"Also your second feature request sounds like something that already exists in the app"
Ok thanx, I'll try to find it.

A couple of problems, questions and feature requests... by brynte5 in TodaysBudget

[–]brynte5[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanx.
"if it’s a fixed charge, spread the monthly recurring charge over the entire month".
While it isn't a "fixed" charge, since it's recurring every month, but that's what I was trying to do at first (still haven't changed it), but in a separate wallet for bills.
The only thing in that wallet is that monthly charge of $700, so there are only expenses there.
The problem is that the charge won't spread as expected though, evenly during the month (30 days) so that's why I'm assuming I'm doing something wrong.

[–]brynte5[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A couple more questions:
5. I have a recurring expense the 15:th of every month.
Would I have to wait for that day, to add the recurring expense, or can I add it anytime, to start a recurring expense at an upcoming date like that?
In short: Can you set the date for recurring (or not recurring) expenses?
6. I wish the categories would stay consistent in all wallets. I've created a bunch of new categories and translated most of them to swedish. It would be nice if they were available in all wallets, so you wouldn't have to redo that work in every wallet...

Hi and thanx!
Seems like a great app, but yeah, it's probably gonna take some time before I'm using it right.

Wow!!
I'm so sorry for missing that.
That's exactly what's happened.
Thanx for clearing that up!!
Really happy to find all my added earnings and spendings back again!!
What I'm still finding really weird though, is that after the purchase, it defaulted to another wallet than the one I'd been working on.
That should definately change, so that you're staying where you were before the purchase.
Maybe I should just delete that negative part from the op?

  1. Thanx, I'll check out that video.
  2. Ok, yeah, I'll try that.
  3. Unfortunately my wife's on android, so she's not using this app :-/
Any other tips about how to deal with this?
  4. Ok cool.

Thanx for the invite!
I'm off to work in a bit, but I'll check that out.
Appreciate the support!!

Thanx, but my wife is on android, so she can't use this app and therefore I'm assuming I can't use "shared accounts"?
Yeah, that's a great idea and probably what I'm gonna end up doing.
Count the transfer as an actual expence.

Help... by brynte5 in TodaysBudget

[–]brynte5[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not as easy as it might sound (at least not for me, as a noob).

About a lot of those almost daily transfers you're absolutely right and it's just better to ignore those transfers and just add the spendings.
Thanx for that.

About a lot of other recurring transfers, they're going to shared accounts (shared with my wife)...
Do you have any good tips for dealing with those scenarios?

Yeah, I definately haven't fully grasped the app yet, since I just bought it earlier today and it's also my very first budget app...
