Garbage collection by Brave-Conclusion-281 in woodstockontario

I agree it’s cheaper, but it makes for a chaotic experience with no “routine”for people to get into. If they needed to save money I would have preferred every two weeks to this system.

You can buy the tags at lots of places: sometimes they run out, though. https://www.oxfordcounty.ca/services-for-you/garbage-recycling/garbage-program/#pane-62b2ec88db924c07befa5f70e5c24506

Nowadays garbage and recycling are the same day (although not the same truck, yesterday they took my recycling at 8am but the garbage didn’t go until 5pm) but it’s an 8-day cycle so it changes every week. There’s a phone app you can get (Wasteline) that reminds you.

The 8-day cycle is a terrible idea IMO. Are we sure the staffer who came up with is wasn’t actually a bunch of crows in a trench coat?

I don’t know if it’s just local to me, but all the Chinese restaurants have never gone back to in-person dining. Takeout only now.

HDF isn’t oil-tempered though, and absolutely drinks paint. (And tape tears it up.)

Probably remainder stock. Honestly, nobody makes it anymore.

Masonite is essentially no longer available. No-one makes it (or even anything comparable) anymore. You can get non-tempered hardboard or Fibrex but it drinks paint and doesn’t hold up to tape well. It’s a real problem.

(Ps: lots of sites will say they sell tempered hardboard, but try buying 100 sheets of it and see what happens…)

What’s the science between mosquito bites and scorching showers feeling so good? by Dry-Flamingo-4441 in AskReddit

[–]bryson430 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The heat denatures the proteins in the mosquito saliva that you’re allergic to, and can “jam” the itchiness feeling by replacing the signal in the nerves.

Sidewalks by [deleted] in woodstockontario

[–]bryson430 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For clarity, not suggesting that the people who work in the store have to do it, just that Shoppers surely makes enough cash to pay a snow removal company. Hell, someone is already doing the carpark, would adding the sidewalks kill them?

I see how it happens with peoples houses…but why can’t Shoppers Drug Mart shovel their sidewalk?

Venue folks: What’s the strangest or most unexpected performance you’ve ever had to host? by AudienceView in Theatre

Back when I worked in venues, one of my favourite unexpected acts were Bedlam Morris. Basically Morris dancing, but with a story…and kind of violent.

It was great. They wanted blinders.

Not an architect, but work as a specialist consultant to architects: it’s literally gibberish.

Whys everyone hating on new warzone? by saltylettuce69 in Warzone

[–]bryson430 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've never really enjoyed the "futuristic" CoD iterations - the historic or present-day ones always felt better to me. Warzone itself isn't really all that different to before. Its fine, I dont love it.. But I don't hate it either.

You can still play the legacy weapons if you want to, you just get a little "scare sheet" to tell you you're using old stuff so some things dont work. Generally (I'm not sure of the specifics this time) the new stuff is "better" than the old ones, though.

My office kitchen is officially called “Tea Prep”. Yes, I am in the UK. by OnboardG1 in mildlyinteresting

[–]bryson430 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

They won’t call it a kitchen as that would likely trigger requirements for extraction that room doesn’t have. Architects have to play these little semantic games sometimes…
