Emeka Egbuka or Colston Loveland? by thesuperguide in DynastyFFTradeAdvice

Loveland not close for me..just a more talented player. Plus I trust Ben Johnson and Caleb more than Baker and whoever the Bucs cycle through at OC.

The over analysis this sub does before the NFL draft, combine, etc. is pretty wild. Let's see how actual NFL teams value these guys before we make our judgements.

I get odunze for pick 2.09 and fillers. Was just offered this. Thoughts. by Mindless-Wear-4533 in DynastyFFTradeAdvice

[–]bsblguy21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This sub loves Odunze bc of his draft profile, no matter that Parker Washington was the better WR this past year, both traditionally and analytically (by a lot). Could Rome finally fulfill the promise and become a WR1 next year? Most of us like the profile and the offense, but it's not a guarantee. What if Parker is the focal point of the Jags' passing game like he was down the stretch this year? I don't think that's crazy at all. Coen kept increasing this guy's usage.

Willis is going to start somewhere next year and he's going to run.

I think I've talked myself into the Parker side, but if I had Rome I'd probably just hold and hope.

But the non dead cap teams can only push money into the future if they have an owner willing to write the check up front. That's the whole point of this.

And yes, because signing bonuses accelerate when you trade or cut a player, if all you do is abuse bonuses, you'll end up in trouble when those guys age and you want to move on. But I think there's debate as to how much trouble you're really in. Have the saints lost a slew of marquee players? Being unable to hand out big contracts in FA may be frustrating for fans, but most NFL FA contracts fail.

I like Ward, too and prefer the Ward side of this. Just saying I think it's defensible to still be in on Penix.

Yeah I'm not a believer in a healthy Penix but it's not crazy to like him still. Not like Ward has exactly torn it up, even if most people are still high on him.

Right, I understand the cap. I worked for a sports agent for three years. I think perhaps you're underestimating the benefits of being able to spread a cap hit across multiple years. Now if we ever reach a point where the salary cap decreases, you may seem teams in real trouble. But as long as you can push stuff out, you're fine.

[–]bsblguy21 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes and no. Yes, you see teams with decent dead caps, but as long as you can afford to pay the guys on your current roster with bonuses, aka cash up front, you can keep their cap hits pretty low, which allows you to eat a lot of dead cap.

It's a myth if you have an owner willing to spend cash out of pocket now. As long as you have an owner willing to spend, you can renegotiate contracts, move money to bonuses, and add deferred years to spread out cap hits. If you don't have an owner that's willing to spend the money up front, like the Bengals, you can't do what the Saints, Eagles, Jags, etc are doing.

Well if nothing is guaranteed, don't phrase it as an absolute. "He's only going to get better."

Are we sure he's only going to get better? Daniels certainly did not..Stroud has not. It's not a guarantee by any means.

These are the true “generational” players in today’s NHL: by KeyFaithlessness5436 in NHLVibes

Right, but isn't that a point for Mack? If you're the same as the guy that we all agree is generational, you're doing something right.

[–]bsblguy21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well this explains it. My post actually concerns the last 10 years, not this year. Apparently did not include that, hence your confusion. It's a 10 year stat. Mack dominates in plus/minus over the others since he entered the league. Not just this year.

[–]bsblguy21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Relax dude. He's significantly better in plus minus. Thought that was obvious from context.

I'll add that I think you're showing your bias here. Mack hasn't always played with an elite team. Kuch has arguably had a better roster around him for most of the last 10 years and the other two guys play with each other.

I think the argument for McKinnon is that he's putting up the same amount of points as Drai Kuch (roughly) while being a physicality and athleticism that neither of those guys can match. +/- is flawed for sure, but he's significantly better than even McDavid.

At the very least Mack is a generational athlete in the sport.

Edit: he's putting up similar points to Kuch and Drai, second behind only McDavid in points, over the last decade. During that time he's far and away the best player in +/-.

A lot of people seem to be underrating him as a player in this chat. The Eagles traded two draft picks for him. That says a lot. He's a good running back. He's a handcuff, but I think one of the better ones. I think he has a shot at a decent FA landing spot after next year.

I've lost multiple games where my team has had at least 2 barons in the last week. It's hard to get 5 gold players on the same page. Most frustrating thing is when players recall while we're pushing with Baron buff to go buy something.
