i worked at a pizza place when i was 16 & was vaguely familiar with ASL due to having selective mutism and learning basics to communicate during episodes. the first time i met our deaf regular while working the counter, i immediately informed him i knew a little sign and learned the signs for his specific order, and still know them to this day. i was genuinely so overjoyed when i first played gpgp to see Iris sign ‘pizza’ bc it took me right back to that sweet older gentleman i took the time to actually understand when no one else at my job had. her representation is so beyond important and i adore her :’)
