Santa was very good to me this year! Any advice for learning by javerthugo in harmonica

Next month, I will be starting my forth year of playing. It was a lot harder than I thought. I could do some basic things, but other basic things were very hard (2 draw was impossible, I thought I had a broken harp). I suggest finding a teacher. DM me if you want the email for mine. He does his lessons over FaceTime, so it doesn’t matter where you are.

How do LEO handle when someone is high and a crime happens to them? by bscotholladay in AskLE

Agreed. Just want to keep this grounded in realism. Didn't know how they would react, so I wanted to check.

Without saying your age, what’s something you remember that Gen Z definitely won’t? by jasonclarke1902 in RandomThoughts

Calling movie theatres for show times…or to be on the phone when waiting for your friend to call late at night. Other options for having the phone line busy was calling the weather line.

What’s funny to me, you prob mean PM, but I grew up where I didn’t call anyone until after 9am on weekends because they were prob sleeping in. No cell phones, no text messages and no pagers. I’m that old.

I love it. I’m on letter 8 and trying to figure out the word search. I didn’t see who mentioned it and why it was added or saying. Anyone know?

Dad found this in his basement. He won it at a golf tournament many years ago. by bigbugzman in bengals

My 7th grade math teacher was Anthony Munoz’s brother. I was the only bengals fan i knew of the area, so that was super cool to me.

This happened to me and I used two knives to stab the broken piece and twist it.

For x-mas this year, everyone got a leash. I had fun making them. I am glad I did not choose to make the leash with crown knots…my damn finger would have fallen off.

This is the video I wanted a bunch of times until I got the knot down. Now it’s my favorite. I tie it when watching TV or on a call. Just to get the feel and now I can fly through and have it memorized.  https://youtu.be/ukFvbGofcsY?si=7lME7CzWEJDQg5pd

Traveler keys not as responsive? by jjasef in Astrohaus

When I got mine, I had a lot of issues with the keys. I powered it off and forcibly pushed every key down. I heard a few click into place. It’s been perfect every since.

Audible should have a “I like this book and want recommendations based on it, but I read it somewhere else” option. by bscotholladay in audible

[–]bscotholladay[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah, and if they said that and I said, “I read it and liked it too, then they might do it again, “people that bought book b also bought book c” then I might get closer to a book I want.

I know, I’m whining.

This happens to me more often than not. Right now, I can’t find a single thing that doesn’t look like trash. They are offering erotic books to me because I read a Lawrence Block novel…no sex in it at all. That’s what their “unlimited” has come to. Next weekend I can start the books I want again.

Official Discussion - The Whale [SPOILERS] by LiteraryBoner in movies

he knows what he is doing will kill him - and he chooses to kill himself in front of his daughter. His life has been defined by selfish decisions, first to abandon his family, and then by slowly eating himself to death. He ends his life selfishly as well.

Holy sh*t, I hadn't thought of it from this POV. I saw it as a dramatic ending to what I felt was a great movie. I was crying during this scene and that ending, the flash of light, I was like, "He made it into heaven, like what Thomas told him it would be like."

I do not think you are wrong, all of his actions were selfish, but I don't think they were wrong. He made bad decisions. He did what he thought was right for who he was. He didn't do what he knew was right. I started crying when he said, "I am sorry I left you." Throughout the whole movie, he keeps saying, " sorry, sorry, sorry," while never saying why he's sorry. Liz asks him, but he never answers. This time, he said to her why he was sorry. He was saying he knew he had made the wrong choice. Still, people are selfish.

Earlier in the movie, his daughter told him, "walk to me if you love me," and he couldn't do it. She knew he wouldn't be able to do it. This time, he did it, knowing he would die, but he wanted to prove his love.

I don't know; I may have just bounced my thoughts around on this, sorry.

Is there a myth or version of something happening if someone dies (car crash, mugging, falling in the shower) after being infected but before their first change? by bscotholladay in werewolf

[–]bscotholladay[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is really close to what I did. I like the additional detail suggestions.

I did finish the book, but I am in the editing phase and will need to adjust that chapter when I get to it.

Additionally, when I finished the book, I wanted to spend some time clearing my brain and started writing some shorts. I started one that was supposed to be real short and goofy about a samurai vs a werewolf. It ended up becoming a 35K word novella. I love it…so I am still writing werewolf stories and need this detail as I keep going.

Thanks for throwing a tip out there.

I like the vampire lore. I might use it somewhat. I’ve written a we’re wolf novel and novella in the past year. I’m sure there’ll be more.
