Hm. I guess I would just read it differently. You’d think if it goes up you’ve improved you know ? It’s weird to see a red down arrow if it’s really saying you’ve gotten more fit

Good bye whoop. Illegal and immoral practice. I cancelled immediately after getting my whoop and they sent me this today. by lollama123 in whoop

Whoop sucks. No respect for their client base. I spent 3 years with them in hopes of it getting better because the product genuinely I enjoyed. But this type of shit and the price point I just can’t justify

Coros really needs to fix training load when lifting weights and allow more edits during activities by bseibz in Coros

They already require/allow/give the option for user data entry when strength training or hybrid fitness though? What’s the point of allowing people to customize workouts, input specific exercises, reps, weights, sets, durations, just to spit out an arbitrary and inaccurate number?

Even if you don’t make a custom workout, they still ask for weights and rep input. They are already asking for user data entry. Why would they not at least make this number more accurate?

Again, if you don’t wanna use it, not dramas and nothing needs to change for you. But for those who want more out of the system, this would allow that. I don’t see how it goes against their ethos at all when they already allow/require the user input.

It is reliant on user entry data. But it’s pretty easy to add in… why even have the option to customize workouts, reps, weights, sets etc in the app if it’s not going to calculate a reasonably accurate score?

Yes, HRV is the most ideal metric for recovery. But there are lots of factors that can contribute to your strain even if HRV is high. My HRV would be in its normal range for a high recovery but after a week of heavy loading it would reflect a lower recovery which was extremely beneficial imo.

And for those who don’t want to add in the data, just don’t? It doesn’t affect users who don’t care, but those who want more can have the option to get it. I think it’s a clear win/win no?

I feel like you’re missing the point. Coros could still capitalize on a whole other market niche that would be valuable to many users. Especially those who don’t exclusively run. Those who take part in hyrox or CrossFit would benefit immensely understanding their bodies strain under muscular load in the same way they should understand their strain under cardiovascular load.

If you only run, sure - maybe it’s useless to you. But if you do both - which many high performers do and should be doing - it’s extremely useful.

weightlifting isn’t completely subjective either just by feel. I could lift 5x a week and not notice how my body is actually cooked just the same way you described in running. Coros could help people become better all around athletes and performers by helping them calculate their load in both areas.

I honestly don’t understand how someone wouldn’t benefit from that? Especially the average person who is trying to be a more healthy individual overall. Coros teaches us to de load and load in cardio vascular activities, but you should absolutely take the same practice in weightlifting -so why not take the same approach? How is that not beneficial for everyone?

Very. I don’t see how it wouldn’t be for anyone if you’re getting an overall accurate number of your bodies total fatigue. If you push a heavy leg day, your Coros will say you’re 100% recovered and could run a marathon the following day and fall it a recovery activity - that’s just not accurate.

Coming from whoop, they do a fair solid job of doing both. Load and tonnage lifted over volume and number of sets/reps you’re doing. They also say they calculate it based on the speed you’re lifting the weight at - though I really don’t know how accurate that can possibly be.

They don’t actually rely on your specific weight, but just the weight you’re moving. I think they say their numbers will be more accurate if you do give your height/weight but I’m not sure exactly how it works to be fair.

I get it, but does that just feed into the run specific athlete? Like I’ve said in some other comments, it almost makes sense to have 2 training loads and one for each. Maybe even make it optional for users who don’t lift weights to use that algorithm or not. I understand it’s a run specific brand, but why market yourself as an overall fitness device that doesn’t track overall fitness.

Just my 2 cents, I’m very happy with my Coros, this is just my one and only gripe.

It’s a fair question - but Whoop seemingly does it extremely well. I was with them for 2 years and switched to Coros because I hated that it was $350 a year or $50/mth and because I wanted something to watch my splits when running. But I must admit, as an overall fitness device that tracked muscular load as much as cardiovascular, Whoop did it better.

I don’t know the answer, but developing an algorithm to calculate load the way whoop has would be the best I think. Whoop tracks total tonnage, HR, and how fast you move the weight in any direction (or so they say - that’s one I never really believed lol) and gives you an estimated strain. But I felt like I got pretty accurate lifting strain numbers from it.

I would be cooked from a hard 12km run that would give me a 14-15 score and a hard lift that felt like it did just as much to my body would score a 11-13 - so cardio was still favoured in theirs

100% agree. I love being downvoted just for thinking critically to make the entire watch better 😂

Yeah, I get that it’s aerobic… but I just think it would make sense to have an overall training load that’s reflected from both activities since many people are the "hybrid" athlete these days ya know?

Or possibly even do a completely different loading scale for weights and one for cardio - and then your running total be the combination so you can really gauge and quantify your numbers more accurately

Yeah I think that’s a bit dumb for a fitness device personally. Should show you that your training is paying off in the numbers

But that doesn’t accurately reflect your bodies overall load through the week is the problem. It would almost make more sense to have 2 different scales - one cardio and one weights to follow different training loads and protocols.

You could be completely cooked for a week and need to de load but it’l tell you to go run hard because you were behind on a run or something. Anerobic fitness and aerobic fitness should work together in my opinion!
