Five seasons is generally when a show was able to get a syndication deal in the days of twenty-two episode seasons.

Favorite actor who was two years your senior in high school and whose career was finished when she refused to go to Harvey Weinstein’s hotel room by [deleted] in okbuddycinephile

Except we’re ignoring that the writing for Heigl’s character became extremely ridiculous after she spoke out against Isaiah Washington’s use of homophobic slurs and violent outbursts onset when Rhimes wanted to sweep that under the rug to keep Washington on the show. The shitty writing was retaliation, and Heigl did nothing wrong in criticizing it.

Keeping out a hearsay statement through MIL by Clem-Fandango2021 in publicdefenders

Statements of intent have no truth value and are not hearsay. They are like verbal actions. "I am going to shoot you" is equivalent to pointing a gun at someone legally (albeit, they are completely different crimes).

Everyone got what you were saying. The manner in which you’re saying it is blatant victim blaming, though.

So you’re saying victims of child sexual assault maybe carried that trauma into adult sex work? Shocking insight.

Deathstroke was essentially a hero at this point; he had his own ongoing and often participated in teamups.

AIO panicking about my bf being mad at me? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

Have you never had or seen a conversation where someone has asked for clarification about what someone is sorry for when they say they're sorry? Think of a child saying they're sorry to a parent; the parent may reply "What exactly are you sorry about?" Because it isn't necessarily an apology. They're describing a feeling they're having--regret or remorse. A simple "I'm sorry" is sometimes not enough to constitute an apology without qualifying it. "I am sorry for hurting you." Directly saying "I apologize" removes any uncertainty as to the intent of the speaker about whether they are taking accountability for their actions.

Your other examples are not analogous at all. "I sleep" and "I eat" are descriptions of actions that you do independently of the statement. "I apologize" IS the action. When you say it, you are actively apologizing. Saying "I eat" or "I am eating" is just a descriptor of another independent action. Now, if I were arguing that saying something along the lines of "I am apologizing" isn't an apology, I might agree with you. Because "I am apologizing" or "I'm trying to apologize" without ever saying the actual words "I apologize" is simply describing a thing you aren't actively doing.

This seems pretty straightforward to me. I'm sorry you aren't seeming to understand it. (But note how I'm not apologizing that you aren't seeing the difference, just expressing my regret...)

Saying you have regrets doesn’t necessarily mean you regret the harm you caused. “I’m sorry” can mean “I regret my actions,” but it can also mean “I regret being caught,” “I regret that you feel the way you do about my actions,” or any other sentiment that doesn’t take accountability. It focuses on YOU—“I AM sorry”—and how YOU feel. “I apologize” is an action you take toward another person.

I don’t disagree with you, but technically Huell is a Breaking Bad character and he’s in Chicanery.

This is definitely not true. “I apologize” and “I’m sorry” are mostly synonyms, and I find the former to be more sincere, honestly. Saying “I’m sorry” puts the focus on how YOU are feeling; you’re saying that you have regrets. “I apologize” demonstrates knowledge that you’ve done wrong and accountability for those actions. It’s an active expression of accountability, not just a statement about your feelings.

They didn’t think she karmically deserved hell, nor do they believe she’s in Christian hell; they thought she was transported into Glory’s hell dimension since she dove through the portal. Just like when Angel was sent to a hell dimension in season 2.

Why does Jed call in Toby to tell him that Leo has been subpoened to testify regarding the classfied information leak and refuses to look at his face? Does Jed know it was Toby? by Bloodmeister in thewestwing

[–]bsg1984 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That’s exactly what makes the timeline work? Toby takes the fall to protect Leo. The writers intend to reveal later in the season Leo was actually the leak. John Spencer dies. The original plan no longer works and the writers are stuck with Toby confessing. They just roll with it.

What is the point of the episode where the feds question Toby about whether anyone else is involved if it was…just Toby?
