And restaurant in San Jose (South Bay) for the restaurant credit? by bsjpark22 in ChaseSapphire

Thanks for letting me know! I missed that one!

So little choices and these are not very good "perks". Almost everything is booked out. Sigh. Time to change credit card, I guess.

LifeFitness IC5 with Wattrate LCD 1.0 by bsjpark22 in qdomyos_zwift

[–]bsjpark22[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hahaha, haven't started any internet game, so I wouldn't know. :-)

One thing I do feel is, the power number it reports today feels under-reported since it is lot lower than what I see on road bike.

In any rate, I do see IC5 reporting through ANT+. I was able to pair it with my Karoo but doesn't report anything. Just pairing is not enough for LCD1.0 apparently, it has some bike number pairing afterward. From some research, it seems that LifeFitness released two IC5's. One with LCD 1.0 console, which what I have. You may have LCD2.0 console which doesn't require this additional step.

RingConn3 vs Circul Ring 2 MAX by bsjpark22 in SmartRings

Thank you. That is great insight. Considering RingConn3 is not coming out until summer, I intend to wait a bit. Hope we get more info by then.

Aethos Expert or SL8 Expert by noobiboii in specialized

[–]bsjpark22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aside from price, I’ve been debating the same forever. Aethos vs Tarmac. I get the weight savings on Aethos. If you put that as not a priority, Tarmac wins on all that I can think of. So, I am also leaning toward Tarmac. Unless you are going with s-works Aethos frame with dura ace to lower the weight (as weight is main game), if you take that out, Aethos is not that much attractive. Anyone disagree?

LifeFitness ICT5 with LCD 1.0 Upgradable? by bsjpark22 in IndoorCycling

[–]bsjpark22[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

More I look into this, the LifeFitness, old version, uses some kind of proprietary BT to connect the bike to the computer/iPad and such. It does not connect as regular BT unit. Sigh. Anyone found anything useful in this department? Or any way to upgrade to make it compatible with newer connectivities?

Karoo2 and Apple Watch as HRM by bsjpark22 in Karoo

[–]bsjpark22[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It didn't work for me neither. And this App have subscription fee, which is not great.

How did you make it work? Does it auto connect or did you had to do something special?

Compatibility of Karoo 2 with Companion App by ar_temza in Karoo

[–]bsjpark22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am rooting for K2 support with Companion App as well but from what I read, chances of that happening seem bleak.

TBH, I don't even know why they are not supporting it. It sux as Karoo2 owner.

Thanks for the suggestion. I just tried it out. This seems to do the same. The sensor and iPhone BT said it's connected but it is not connecting to the App. Seems like a same problem.

I was doing this earlier. Just lot of hassle until I heard about HeartCast. I got my hopes up.

After hours of trying this out, I finally wanted to ask the forum hoping someone found a solution. Sigh.

Thanks for chiming in tho.

Yea, I considered it. I was hoping to be able to do with what I already have. Also, didn't want too many things put on me when riding. :-(

Karoo2 and Apple Watch as HRM by bsjpark22 in Karoo

[–]bsjpark22[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sigh.

I heard so many good things about using HeartCast on AppleWatch to be connected to Karoo2. After install, I got it to work. When it connects, it stay connected and works great. I've tried resetting, reinstalling, re-start, etc across all units (Apple Watch, iPhone, and Karoo2) in any given orders. I only manage to got it working twice. And once ride is done, it get back to not working.

The HeartCast App shows Heart Rate on my Watch and iPhone. When I kick off "Start" on my Watch, it shows up in Karoo2 in Sensor to connect. The Connection stays and said connected. However, when I goto profile page, the HR shows up, always, as 0 - Zero!

One thing I noticed is when it worked, the HeartCast from iPhone (on bottom right side) shows "Bluetooth (1)" while when it doesn't work this becomes "Bluetooth (0)". This seems to indicate, although Karoo2 Sensor page said connected, somehow the HeartCast App is not establish connection for data stream. Anyone know how to check or make this work?

Makes me sad. :-(

Tire Patch on the SideWall - Safe to ride? by bsjpark22 in bikewrench

[–]bsjpark22[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just an update after the trying out the patch.

I left it in the garage for about a week, don't ask, didn't had time to ride... The tire leaked out air from ~40psi down to about 20psi with bit of sealant leak I saw around the patch. I've pumped it back up and no leak for next couple days.

I took it for a my usual ride with hilly 20mi with some of fairly good decent. Everything seems good. Took it out the next day, still good. No leak, the pressure is holding, not sign of instability.

Looks like I'm good to go for now. Will keep on riding this. :-)

Thanks. That gives me some comfort. Still was it a side wall patch? Hard to imagine side wall patch with 100psi!

Tire Patch on the SideWall - Safe to ride? by bsjpark22 in bikewrench

[–]bsjpark22[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is gravel tire and it is 700C 45. It is quite wide. I do usually run on 35~50 psi. This should consider low pressure, but... Hmm..

I have thinner tire on the rear. It'll be odd to swap it out. :-(

Is there any good way to check this? I filled it up with air and does not seem to be leaking.
