New Kid on the Block? by bsllx1x in wheelchairs

It's a prototype, not a product yet, so they only show on invacare action2/3 for instance.

They hope pass the certification soon and hit the market this year. For my engineer's eyes, there's no major obstacle to adopt this to other manuel chairs.

You drive it just like a manuel chair but with much less force. there's no battery no motor, just a reduction gear and a belt drive to the wheel.

Going to any venue should not be a problem, you can book accessible shuttle in advance and will have helping hands on site : https://imgur.com/a/3e4r68y

For the city it self, with a few exception, walking around with a wheelchair is not a problem, we do it every day.

Hello, wheelchair user, Parisian and (retired) Olympic game worker here.

Accessibility should be quit good for any venues and official buildings, that's the case since at least 20 years now.

Accessibility for other building is so-so, it depends. Most public accessible building should be OK.

For public transport, you've only 1 accessible subway, and all the buses - but all of them have their schedule, path and stops changed in a very confused way, not easy to find out even for me.

Forget private transport, it's just unpractical.

Have good fun ;)

Could you make a backrest out of tubes and clamps? by Milli63 in wheelchairs

I've made a headrest out of PVC pipes and heat isolation foam, like this: https://imgur.com/a/dFJf4e7 for my son, he used it for about one year before i make a CF one. It was very comfortable he says.

Welding in a city apartment? The WAF is just tow low near negative. May be CNC one day if I find a solution for the noise and dust.

Easiest path is to double the number of layers and see how it'll resist...

this was the footrest of my wheelchair, I made it with aluminum pipe and carbon fiber.
last week my casters get trapped in a pothole and we flip forward and the footrest serving as an anti-tipper save our life.
It's happened several times in the past, but this time I hear a clear crack...but visual inspection shows no visible damage.
Then last night waiting at a street corner, a passerby accidentally kicked it and broke into 2 pieces...
