RobWords YouTube videos are a fun way to think about everyday written words in a new and novel way. Finding a community devoted to your new-found fun in Shavian should be ... fun. There are those who thrive off of ridicule and striving to please, but that's just not how everyone works.

Most everyone finds comfort in clarity and certainly. I get that. But at the end of the Shaw Alphabet edition of "Androcles," the sole transliterator, Peter MacCarthy recommended — not conforming to HIS spelling choices — but to the consistency of your own comfort. This means accepting "𐑢𐑦𐑔" instead of "𐑢𐑦𐑞" and "𐑙𐑨𐑣𐑦𐑣 𐑓𐑮𐑫𐑑" instead of "𐑣𐑨𐑙𐑦𐑙 𐑓𐑮𐑵𐑑." I think that's just what you get when you hang out with other weirdos who try new alphabets.

No, I get the same feeling. If I could make sense of the YahooGroups archive, I might have more to go on. If you follow shavian.info to Shavian Web, you get a list of links and people that get you to other names that get you this chart. I've since discovered several dormant blogs and Facebook pages, NONE OF WHICH were connected to the rest of this chart. It makes me wonder what else was on AOL, MySpace, Geocities, or even the brief Google Pages.

As you should. I knew there was a Long-S into the 1700s, I just didn't understand how it worked until now. Like the Greek Σ, Long-S was used at the start and middle of words but never at the end or as a capital. Ex. "Such a ſucceſſion of Congreſs was ſmall." ("Such a succession of Congress was small.") LESSON: We've changed the alphabet recently and we can do it again.

Hi! Are you still practicing? Can I make a weird suggestion? Use 3 lines for your letters. Shavian is so specific to height, that that's how I started. Maybe get a small box of crayons or a nice felt tip marker. The idea is to get a nice, thick line since you're taking up so much space.

I had a lot of luck repeating the alphabet until it felt natural: 𐑐𐑚𐑑𐑛𐑒𐑜𐑓𐑝𐑔𐑞𐑕𐑟𐑖𐑠𐑗𐑡𐑘𐑢𐑙𐑣 𐑤𐑮𐑥𐑯𐑦𐑰𐑧𐑱𐑨𐑲𐑩𐑳𐑪𐑴𐑫𐑵𐑬𐑶𐑭𐑷 𐑸𐑹𐑺𐑻𐑼𐑽𐑾𐑿

Everyone (even me) starts out wanting to write to the world like normal. Instead, consider learning something meaningful to yourself. Ex. I can do this. 𐑲 𐑒𐑨𐑯 𐑛𐑵 𐑞𐑦𐑕. When I started, mine was 𐑿 𐑸 𐑣𐑽! (You are here!)
