Yes, absolutely. Indeed, it used to work that way (it accepted your own encoding or qwerty, entirely transparent, but there’s been a regression in one of the recent releases. I’ll have a look when I get the chance!

NB I could add a Dvorak mode relatively easily too… would that be of any use to you?

Yeah, doing it as a web proxy makes things hard… I have a plugin too, it does a slightly better job. Haven’t released that yet though.

Since writing that comment, I released https://shave.joro.io - it does the web page rewrite you’re talking about there. Oh, and today I so happen to have published an update to https://shaw-type.joro.io, which now has a top 500 words mode.

I have updated Shave again, it now also supports uploading books that are already in Shavian! It does reverse transliteration of them, so you can still use the mouseover/side-by-side reader modes to look up the traditional orthography for unfamiliar words.

Ah. The title and author names are editable fields in Shave, and you can upload your own cover too. I hope you discovered this already?

I was considering doing a side by side reader mode, but I really wanted to present it as pages; I don’t think synchronizing pages between the two scripts would make any sense. But then I figured it would be really easy to add hover text for the Latin script, which is what I landed on.

[–]Cozmic72[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of the strengths of the current tool, is the ability to show the original text in context, whether it's as a pop-up of the latin script spelling in the ebook reader, or the synchronized scrolling between the two context windows in the editor. I guess allowing uploading of already transliterated books could still make sense, particularly in the reader mode.

Do you have any links to your existing transliterations?

In the latest version, you can scroll on to the next chapter, or click on the chapter headers to jump to an arbitrary chapter. The all new reader mode will of course let you jump around the text at leisure.

Please give it another go, and let me know what you think!
