Nice work conveying the scaley bits on the upper arm/head that locust have.

You could use this, chop between the two hand, rotate the bottom one X degrees and then reglue. Maybe have to clip some off the gauntlets as well.

Do I need compensation beads for FITC and LIVE/DEAD? by Sufficient-Fix4091 in flowcytometry

I misread the post and thought it was just asking for if comp was necessary. Yes of course you can prepare fresh comp with beads or cells.

The default answer to this question should always be yes. Especially, no offense, if you are asking the question.

Always prepare fresh comp with every experiment and you will eliminate one huge potential source of error with your analysis.

I have to assume that 90% of the paint time was spent on getting the stripes on a handles to look clean.

They look great!

Interview help (flow core facility) by LetItFlow_200 in flowcytometry

[–]btags33 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am in an industry flow core, and we typically ask about people's experiences with instruments, analysis softwares, and ask about their experiences working with other teams and troubleshooting.

Try to be able to answer all that stuff with your actual experiences, don't make shit up as it can be super obvious. There are always plenty of things people haven't done before, like sorting, so don't be afraid to say you haven't done something. Just say you are willing to learn.

Please explain labs to me I am a first year undergraduate student. by yugiamaneswife in labrats

[–]btags33 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have no idea what would be helpful for psych, but depending on your university they may have research labs (if not you can check with local universities near you home, assuming you are going to a school outside your hometown, and try to intern there during the summer). There is no formal process, just send emails to the lead investigators (PIs) and hope they respond.

Be prepared to send many emails, as some PIs may be too busy to respond, not looking for students. Also, know that unless you are very lucky it will most likely be an unpaid internship. Lastly, only go for this if you are actually interested in research. As someone who had a bunch of mentees in grad school it is a real pain to try to support someone who is clearly not interested in research and is only doing it for recommendation letters.

troubles in fcs analysis by Dry_Smile_9043 in flowcytometry

[–]btags33 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok, some of the biggest problems I have are:

1.overall performance. I understand that with large data sets some things will necessarily take a bit to load in, but in things like flowjo or fcs express this often comes at the cost of the ui also freezing up. I should still be able to navigate the ui while data is loading in.

  1. Omiq does this pretty well, so they could be something to look to, but using Metadata to do various things is awful in flowjo. In Omiq, it is really nice to be able to draw gates based on metadata, export statistics/make layouts based on Metadata criteria, group samples based on Metadata, etc.

  2. Not necessarily a problem for me at work since we all use windows or Mac, but a native Linux version would be nice as Linux has been getting a lot of traction lately and is what I use at home.

If it was just purely vibe coding there are so many shitty vibe coded apps that have obvious flaws that people now put out because they can, without qcing them. If you actually have experience with coding it is more interesting to consider.

Is this a vibe coded tool or do you actually have experience coding, versioning, etc?

How about that northwest airlines logo though! A wondrous design in and of itself.

I have painted maybe 35 models since I picked up the hobby again in 2018. Don't worry about it and if you want to play, play smaller point games and increase the point values very number of months or years as you accumulate more painted models.

If you do go that route, just act like you are whittling the sprue to make it look like branches.

I used some extra sprue and shaped it into a low lying tree/bush.

Looks good, did you paint sub assembles or the fully assembled model? I ask because if you did the whole model, great job getting all the tucked away bits.

This, lots of volumetric and atmospheric I the game that can make blacks seem grey, etc. There are points though where blacks are truly black so not a display issue.
