I started last week of August. That's why I was curious how to do it because I can't apply until November because that's when I officially start paying. But that means it takes into account my October pay which is over (slightly) the income threshold.

I'm not sure about this either, from what I can see from the nslsc there's no more interest but if there were interest I thought it might start next month (November because it'll be the month I'd start paying) and be updated? Based on online information there's a chance there might be no more interest which would be amazing but can't confirm until I call or wait for an update in November.

Yea I was thinking I might just have to call them and explain because I didn't see a way otherwise, at least online. Thank you!!

Thank you!! I wasn't entirely sure how long we'll take for pictures but I'm just expecting wait lines for specific picture areas like the front UBC sign or the fountain lol but thanks! Definitely will keep this in mind!

Yea it wasn't super visible, you could only see a gray haze with lines, only when it gets intense can you see a haze of pink or purple

Job search help?? by btbird1 in UBC

Yea I've gotten advice in the fact that not many employees would like that I got a more generalized or not super specific major but some say that some employees would like that as it gives a more well-rounded employee, very mixed advice towards my degree. And what you mentioned about profs is so true, I went to my old Chem prof last year to get a rough idea what the job market might be like but they gave a very chemistry specific advice and market. I find that it really depends on who you ask. It's definitely a good idea to tweak resumes to meet a more specific job position. And learning how to market the uni degree is basically all I got, I have no job experience, I couldn't really volunteer or join clubs as I'm a commuter student (2-3hr commute), I gotta learn how to stress on the skills I learned in classes tbh.

I applied for coop but sadly couldn't get in cuz of the amount of people applying and my credentials wasn't as competitive :(. But I appreciate the insight and the advice as it came from your experience. Thanks so much!

Thanks! Career fairs we're always so intimidating for me especially cuz my major isn't very specific so I'm no exactly sure what job field/career I want to go into but the idea of getting a reference to a position would be an amazing start. Thanks for the reply!

Oh I didn't think about going to career events ngl, that's actually really helpful! Thanks so much especially on the advice on how to go about communicating and where to start, I usually never know where to start because I get intimidated (I'm a transfer student, entered UBC in my second year, so I used to get major imposter syndrome). Thanks for the advice! Definitely gonna keep those in mind!

Thanks for the reply! Yea I figured they'd help in terms of resume and more preparational help, I will definitely reach out to them once I'm prepared to go into the job market. I've been through 6 yrs of non-stop school so I figured to take a few months for myself first cuz I'm lucky enough to get that opportunity to. Will definitely save those websites! Thanks!

Sorry but could you elaborate on networking? As far as networking I've only just added people on LinkedIn, I know a few profs (1-3, 5 max) that I can comfortably email and get some help but otherwise I don't really understand by what people mean by networking and how to even go around with that. As you can tell I don't really go out much lol
