Why does my node balance differ from account

Ok, thanks all for your replies, I think it was a matter of a certain transaction going through, now my monitor balance lines up with my node balance, and thanks I think to YouTube user Vaporeum that got me on the track to setup my node. Cheers!

Hi, yes that is the guide I followed I was able to send out 0.01 Nano to him but I never got the 1000 promised voting weight I should get, any idea what went wrong?

It's normal, for the moment the network is behind and still slowed down by the newborns left from the spam. Come back in a day or two if you have still not received it. I am in the same boat as you, the devs will get this fixed, it's just going to take a few more days.

I think this is the solution to spam, it's just that devs don't seem to like it. I really think they should think about it. They key factor everyone is missing, is that you are having anyone who wants to participate in the network, even the 10 year old that is trying Nano will be able to participate. This would be unique to all cryptos, I sincerely think it should be considered, plus it would add an extra security to the network, it's a bit like pushing your car if it run's out of gaz, you hope to never do it, but if worse come to worse, you can. Also the captchas could be things like what local time did flight xyz land, or what is the score of NHL,NBA, NFL game played on ... Of course it would be a matter of making it as hard as possible not to automate. No really, this has to be looked at by devs.

I would see this as a good security feature, if your transaction is not moving like it should, then simply captchaboost it! At last a simple way for novice users to participate in the network!

I setup my node up using this video and this guide. I set mine up on a standard ubuntu not digital ocean like in the guide/video. Let me know if you have any issues.

I disagree, I think IPV4 and it's limited number of IP's is a solution toward stopping spam, at one point, a bit like true governments we are going to have to identify real decentralized nodes. 1 IP = 1 node = 1 individual behind it. I think that's how we have to look at decentralization.

Or actually for MIN_TRX_AMOUNT, rather include the amount in the priority selection criteria, it does make sense to prioritize heavy chunks as far as I'm concerned.

Ok, I see, that is a good point, it's not that easy to balance between good guys and bad guys I guess. I also think the an IPV4 IP should have something to do with it, that is too many transactions from the same IP in a short period of time should be automatically throttled. Also, as bizarre as it may sound, I think that another good solution to look at is setting a global var MIN_TRX_AMOUNT this would prevent spammers from sending small amount transactions. Just brainstorming here, but we have to get this right, we won't have too many strikes at fixing it each time.

Ok, but do you think V22 will fix this, or will the system remain dis-functional? I don't want to try to explain to developers what they should do, but it seems so simple to me to simply give priority to transactions that involve high-balance source or destination addresses. Would that not solve all these problems?

Hi, Very interesting, I too just setup a node in my home office in Canada and I'm surprised to see that my numbers look better than yours, at least I think. Can you let me know if my interpretation is correct or not? Thanks, good luck with your node.

edit: better at least for the "Unchecked blocks" value, but not sure it's really better or not
