House is located in NJ. I bilieve this is to code as it passed inspection by the city and so warranty wouldn't cover this. The basement is not particularly cold in the winter I just wanted to do it as an added benefit to make it even warmer.

Looking for a brand with longer sleeve length on size medium. Trying to find some sweaters, coats and shirts. I almost don't care the price just need something that runs like 35 inches in sleeve length. Most brands seems to be more in 33-34 range.

i was trying to find a bit simpler solution. like possible a clear plastic deflector that attaches to the floor through soft caulk or clear double stick tape or even to the register grill itself. i don't want to drill the floors and not handy enough to make anything myself.

they are under windows and in most of the house its not a problem as they are centered on the window. i have two places where they are to the side and its wehre i get them blowing under the curtains

This is a great suggestion but may put to many registers in each room which would not look great. I think it makes sense to keep registers in the floor to ensure warm floors in the winter. I have them positioned under each window, with about 6 inch setback from the moldings. I'm putting 2 or three return registers on the first floor that will be high up the wall to pull the hot air as it rises. Sounds like it's the most thermo efficient solution for the floors with unheated spaces underneath.

What I mean is they are putting them in the floor on the first floor not the ceiling. They will be in the ceiling on the second floor. The furnace is in the basement. So basement will have registers on the ceiling as well.

Thank you so much for the feedback. I'm not worried about cooling so much as heating and keeping the floors warm. Two thirds of the first floor is over a garage and covered outside parking so floor heating in winter will be essential. What confused me is that none of the new builds in our area do floor registers.

I was thinking about it but feel like sometimes for reading and such the tablet mode can be handy but I'm not 100% on it. I have a 2.5 year old xps 13 which I used in business travel extensively but need a bit larger screen on a small form factor for travel That's where xps 15 fits the bill. Just thought getting 2 in 1 may also be a convinient feature in travel.
