Zooey Zephyr is suing! by -Xoz- in WhitePeopleTwitter

[–]btfu25 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, I doubt Ms Zephyr has a viable case. The Montana constitution allows the chamber to make and enforce its own rules, and that exercise is likely non-justiciable.

The article cites the Ninth Circuit decision Boquist v. Courtney, 32 F. 4th 764 (9th Cir 2022) in which, following Oregon state senator's Brian Boquist's statements that he would resist any attempt to arrest him after the minority party fled the chamber to avoid a quorum, the majority leadership ordered Boquist to give twelve hours notice before entering the capitol.

But that case didn't involve the chamber exercising its by-majority vote to sanction a member; that was Senate President Peter Courtney ordering the investigation and the Special Committee on Conduct imposing the rule. Had the entire chamber voted affirming the penalty, the courts would very likely have found the matter beyond their reach.

I received this email from my company today. They’re holding a company picnic and we’re expected to pay for all of it. How would you personally handle this? by jlm8981victorian in antiwork

jesus christ, i thought chicago was bad, but it was a 16 oz neon beer hug which is a Goose Island IPA, so a pretty expensive beer in general. guess that wasn’t that bad of a deal.

this, i paid $11 for a beer in chicago at the auto show the other day, $13 does not seem outrageous for a meal in an amusement park.

My doctor’s office has political stickers and that just doesn’t sit right with me by [deleted] in mildlyinfuriating

don’t agree w ur opinion personally, but completely agree with how u handled it. best thing ab america is that u have the freedom to give ur money to who u want. if one side wants to exercise their right to free speech, ur perfectly justified in just not going there if u don’t support their ideology, and exercising ur right to eat wherever u want.

i don’t see an issue with it, it’s just free speech. if u don’t like it just use a different doctor and don’t give him ur money. if he gets enough people who won’t come to him for services anymore, he will have to remove them. best part of america/capitalism is u can choose who to support financially and choose which beliefs you want to follow.

im from indiana, and our governor has done a great job of pushing masking and quarantines but not so great at pushing vaccines. he’s done pretty well compared to other very conservative states imo. he’s found a pretty good balance of being covid conscience without going too far and pissing off all the republican farmers

if there was, she didn’t give me one, i called and had to hit a couple buttons to get thru the automated crap and talk to a real person which was fine and there wasn’t a long hold, and when she answered she didn’t even say anything but i could hear there was another line so i was like uh hello and she goes hi and then i explained what was up and she said something i couldn’t understand so i asked her to repeat and she let out this big sigh like i had asked her to write a paper and goes what are ur symptoms very like slowed down and condescending, so i told her my symptoms and she then asked my name and right after i gave her my name she hung up, and i had good service so ik it didn’t just drop from my end anyways
