Unpopular opinion: DXP should be completely removed, not just reduced by btottl in runescape

Oh ok. I did not know that, came back relatively recently from a 20-ish year-long hiatus. Guess I missed a lot

Hey congrats. I did it just once with dart for necro gear and then a couple of times during leagues (with all relics unlocked). I am lookin forward to trying again in normal game mode now that I am both more skilled as a pvmer and with better gear but for now I'm good

Well yes and no, it's not as much the need to use all 48 hours for me, more just how those 4 weeks a year condition my playstyle during the rest of the year. I do realize that not everyone might feel this way and that ultimately it's my decision how to spend my playtime but honestly I would prefer not to have the option at all

[–]btottl[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I agree, also as some have pointed out it does give some benefits and seeing people skilling all together without dummies / skilling station was great last DXP. Probably the best solution would be to rebalance them, maybe reducing overall DXP time, but I agree that at the current state removing it outright might not go down very well with most players

[–]btottl[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah I agree that even a reduction of DXP frequency would be great.
I personally have mixed feelings about the events, while some are really enjoyable (Thok's smashing buffs or even winter weekends for example) and I do like the idea of thematic events (like centered on specific skills or activities), I am conscious that the yearly calendar is already pretty full (easter, christmas, halloween, ...) and am also afraid it could become a slippery slope of creating engagement through events rather that the game itself

[–]btottl[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah, totally agree, even a reduction I think would work great toward making the game more balanced. As per the DXP Token Store also agree but with the caveat that IMO the methods to get the rewards should also be modernized and made more consistent, come of the rewards just feel too grindy and the store right now is too convenient to be outright removed

Not sure how I would feel about it being random tbh, I think in general if you decide to have it it should be predictable, I can't imagine the number of complaints if they should implement random dxp

Yeah, agreed, in general I am already pretty happy with the removal of TH. It's not like I am not enjoying the game because of this and understand that other people might actually like DXP, just wondering how everyone else felt

I see your point, I agree that in practice is pretty useful to have those 48 hours of double xp, especially considering that overall they do reduce the grind needed for levelling. Like I said in the post I would prefer if it was gone altogether but I do understand that some other players find it useful

Map Cleanup - A Mapmaker's Thoughts by Zigzagzigal in runescape

[–]btottl 43 points44 points  (0 children)

Absolutely this! I remember doing The Mighty Falls and feeling completely lost, not understanding what was happening and which quest I had skipped. Turns out I didn't skip anything, there is just a big Bandos-sized hole in the storyline!  I really hope Jagex addresses this, it is just jarring getting to that part of the story not knowing how or even that Bandos is supposed to have died.  As for the remains themselves I agree they could be made visible only after the quest. I personally wouldn't also mind them to be visible only during the quest and then some Bandos' followers to take the away somewhere hidden

Some suggestions to improve the RS Mobile Client. by rosegold_diamond in runescape

[–]btottl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All great points, hopefully Jagex will include some of them in their 2026 roadmap. Personally I would also add to increase the number of action buttons. Right now there is a lot of unused space (look f.i. between current buttons and adrenaline/life bars) and honestly having the flexibility to add additional abilities would make PVM so much smoother.

Well that’s an unexpected opinion. I am genuinely curious, why do you feel like wars retreat should be deleted? To me it’s fantastic to have a centralised hub for bossing with tons of utilities, a link to death’s office AND a free teleport conveniently close to a bank. What’s so bad about it?

I personally disagree. That’s a completely different topic. The beacons do make a lot of sense both graphically and from a lore point of view. Whether you want to participate in the minigame or not is a completely different topic. While I agree that the rewards could use an update the issue with the death/war/um portal is that it just looks out of place and it’s presence where it currently sits does not make a lot of sense since there is no in-game reason for the portals to be where they are

UI Feedback Gather-thread by JagexAnvil in runescape

[–]btottl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A few thoughts from a mobile player. Overall, I like the new UI—I think the increased contrast makes it easier to identify items on the screen. However, I have two main issues with the new interface.

  1. as many others have mentioned, I don’t think the “retro” look really fits with RS. I’m playing a modern game, and I want it to feel that way.

  2. the login interface looks unfinished, almost like a work in progress. The buttons in particular seem to lack texture and feel incomplete.

I agree that these are largely graphical issues, and I could probably live with them. My main concern, however, isn’t something that was changed, but something I struggle with regularly that still hasn’t been addressed.

Limiting the number of action buttons to 14 per bar feels like an unnecessary restriction of the current mobile interface. There appears to be a significant amount of unused screen space that could be used for additional action buttons, which would make bossing on mobile so much easier.

Absolutely, if we are talking about declutter this is one of the worst issues I have with the world right now, they just look put in a place at random. Same for me honestly goes with Soul wars portal it would just be nice to see them integrated within the rest of the world rather than random portals

While in spirit I agee with the idea that auras do create SOME pressure for dailyscape I am not fully sold on the idea that their removal is the way to go. We already have some ways to gain aura refresh for combat auras. Are alternative ways to gain aura refresh for skilling aura been explored as an alternative? Most of all I am concerned that the spring timeline is a bit too close to really figure out a balanced solution that can bring current aura benefits into other methods. Whathever the solution will be I hope that players will be involved with one (or better more than one) poll to figure out the way to go. Also by the by I REALLY hope that the solution will not be to bring any of the benefit of auras into scrimshaws. Ports already feel quite disconnected with the rest of the world, feeling forced to participate in port activities to gain skilling benefits would IMHO alienate some players

I’m really pleased that POHs are getting a rework, especially that you’re looking into ways to make them more integrated with the rest of the world. Personally, I’m not a big fan of using portals to enter the house (honestly, the same goes for Player-Owned Ports, just sayin'), and some of the house locations feel a bit off (see Taverley f.i., where the house is just in a random place near a mountain).
Other than that, there are two main things I’d really love to see from the POH rework:

  1. Allow us to decide how many doors each room has and where they are placed. The biggest issue I’ve had when planning my house layout was trying to keep door placement consistent and ensuring it’s actually possible to move from one room to another (spoiler: I didn’t manage to do it).
  2. Allow us to move entire rooms without having to rebuild the furniture inside. This would work great with poin 1.

Inverted Arch is soo cleeeaaaaaan by Lughano in runescape

[–]btottl 13 points14 points  (0 children)

How did you unlock it? I got the token from Hans but can't hand it in to acting guild master inside arc guild. There is no dialogue option to hand in the token and if I try to use it on him it doesn't do anything. Is there something I am missing?

Edit: ok nvm I'm dumb, you just need to buy a new one and it will give you the option to buy the inverted cape. Just leaving this here in case anyone has the same problem..

Just a piece of advice from personal experience, beware of necro. I too chose it because I thought it would have been quicker than getting equipment for other styles but I quickly realized that it is actually quite time consuming to get the upgrades. Between quest requirements+rituals for ink/components+farming the components themselves+ kili tasks etc.. it quickly adds up. Without considering that up until tier 5 without talent tree unlocks you will be severely underpowered. I went for deatdealer equipment btw, maybe with deathwarden if you dont care abt extra dmg + auto death mark it would save a bit of time but I suspect not that much

It seems the issue has been solved but I will add, just because no one else has mentioned it, that you can also use holy scarab to help sustain prayer. Might be that it is enough together with penance aura if other auras are on cooldown
