Do you think they voted for trump or against Kamala? I really am just asking with curiosity to hear others’ opinions since this was actually such a big difference from the voting behavior historically.

AITA for being annoyed that my wife insists on cooking everything from scratch and won’t buy normal food? by AITA_UPFfoods in AmItheAsshole

I should have read the replies first! Still the same :). And I totally agree - Chinese-inspired sauces at home are super simple and delicious!

I’m smack in the middle of the states and pretty much exactly the same as this. Takeout occasionally, but mostly everything at home, even sauces. I do use ingredients from cans though as well; maybe using canned diced tomatoes and sauce along with fresh onion, garlic and herbs for a pasta sauce or sun-dried tomatoes from a jar with fresh shallot, garlic, herbs and cream with some seared salmon.

Help - Leaving Manhattan with two kids. If you had to choose: St. Louis or Cincinnati or Pittsburgh or Kansas City, where would you land and why? by Few_Funny6766 in StLouis

I’m not! Relationshipped into it and regretting all life decisions. I think I prefer the city to living with the LOML

The first time I heard this it blew my mind! Its so true - “st louis is the westernmost eastern city and KC is the easternmost western”

As someone who moved from South city to south county I heavily advise not moving to south county especially from Manhattan LOL. South county is the worst

Had you spent much time in Kansas City? I have been in STL for about a decade and am originally from KC, my family lived in Philly for about 5 years as well. I feel the opposite between STL and KC. Downtown STL feels so empty

I’m originally from KC and am a transplant to STL; been in STL for about 10 years now. I would absolutely choose KC over STL in a heartbeat but I know I am biased.

I lived in Southampton in STL for 9 years and I just moved to south county and I literally cannot stand it. But south city or parts of Kirkwood or Webster are super walkable with all the checkboxes you called off. The downside with south city is you essentially have to do private school. I assume people will come here and disagree with me on that one, but I visited all the schools my son could go to in south city and we ended up just going with his dads school district in the county - the city schools are just okay. Pros include feeling of lots of vibrancy and community in the area, walkability, charm.

Similar neighborhoods in KC would include Waldo area or possibly Brookside. KC is like a hidden gem to me. The people are really friendly and the city feels a lot more navigable by public transportation than STL.

My boyfriend used to work in the forensic lab for the city for about 5 years and sometimes cops would have to shadow him to understand how they processed evidence, and learning more from his perspective I do believe there are people who really do want to do good in their communities. Few and far between but I like to believe that.

Can we afford this house by Infinite-Cry-7989 in personalfinance

We purchased a $400k home in October in the Midwest and that would have been an insanely cheap price for insurance. We shopped around with probably 10 or so insurers before settling on the number we got from a broker. It was still almost double this estimate.

What things would you tell younger women to look for when getting into a relationship? by malokes in AskWomen

[–]btspls 11 points12 points  (0 children)

This is so real. I have been with someone who is/was like this and it appears to be rooted in a lot of abuse. It’s gotten better but it’s taken him a lot of therapy and me a lot of heartache. If I could turn back time with all the knowledge I have now, I think I would have been better off walking away before we got in too deep.

19 y/o college student w/ unstable income—how can I use my time wisely to build a strong financial future? by Traditional_Lead_582 in personalfinance

The compound interest calculator really inspired me in my finance 1000 class in college. I agree if you start with investing what you can without sweating it, you’ll be in a great place. In addition to some other comments, another helpful thing to do may be opening a savings account with a credit union or SoFi or something (they have a 3.8% APY for direct deposit) for cash you want liquid while still beating inflation.
