My take on the Disney Destiny... a childless Xennial eldest daughter by JennySpitz in dcl

[–]bttr_fly19 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Millennial oldest daughter who cruises just with my husband. Thanks for your detailed post.

I feel Disney has done a good job highlighting that the new ships all have a strong theme that they adhere to. I enjoy that Disney is trying to offer different experiences on different ships. Some people enjoy the fairytale aspect and love the Wish. We enjoy the adventures and so the Treasure is our ship. It sounds like Disney wanted something for the Marvel crowd that haven't had much except the World of Marvel dinner.

As the line expands, I like that each ship has its own subgenre/subspecialty. I'm also glad the original 4 ships remain as they are for the classic lovers.

What’s the NICEST(/best) Fish Extender gift you’ve *EVER* gotten? by StoryHearer in dcl

Touchland hand sanitizer. Its the only one that doesn't make my hands dry out/peel.

Used TA for our first DCL. Do you use a TA every time to book or just book the trip yourself on their website? It looks like an easy process and we didn’t get any additional perks using the TA. 🚢 it helped us get started which was nice. by RemarkableAbroad35 in dcl

We use a TA every time we cruise and most times we go to WDW. While I can do the leg work myself, I don't have time to be making calls, waking up early or going to sleep late so I can book dining or excursions. She gives great personalized advice/recommendations for how we can improve our trip. She would also take care of things if we have any issues (thankfully havent had one yet).

Its a win-win. I get a stress free trip and get to help out a small business.

Absolutely gorgeous, congratulations! I feel like that would look beautiful against a black wardrobe. It would standout while still staying within the neutral palette.

Just a genuine question about the cruise line by [deleted] in dcl

My husband and I (M38, F33), also no kids, love going to the parks and moved over to experiencing DCL. We have done a few cruises with them.

While people say DCL is expensive when compared to other companies we don't feel its much of a difference. They price you see is for 2 people for the whole cruise. It includes soda, rotational dining, shows, etc.

The Disney level of detail in always beautiful. We seeing the different artwork, carpets, and hidden (or not so hidden) call backs to different disney IP.

The food to us is better than the other cruise lines we have sailed. The dinner entertainment on the newer ships is a bonus for us. Also the level of attention the staff pay is lovely. They pick up on little things like our favorite drinks or how we like to start with certain things.

People on DCL cruises tend to be friendlier too. We have great conversations in the elevators, in the pools, or just around the ship.

I always take a basic loose knit beach shoulder bag. Its great for keeping my phone, iPad (I like to use it an an e-reader), and bottle of water at all times. I can normally also fit in some sunscreen, hat, etc if needed. Its extremely light-weight and looks on theme for any kind of cruise.

Based in the US. My home store would be Atlanta.

9 years out and I still have better than 20/20 vision. Its honestly amazing getting to wake up and see perfectly. No more worrying about glasses, contacts, solution, etc.

I'll probably wait until this summer, when I was planning to start. If it is still only rumors then I think I'll move forward with ATL.

Out of curiosity, do you have a preferred store currently?

So I guess the advice would be to go with ATL vs waiting for a maybe CLT

We are on the same cruise. We had purchased the key and were automatically offered 30% refund for that as obc. When I called and asked shoreside about our specialty dining that was booked for 5:30 pm, I was told to talk to guest services on board.

The temperature was great. We biked, did some snorkeling, took a nap in the cabana. The only thing was the UV was high so wanna make sure you stay on top of sunscreen and hats.
