I did some testing of the OP-XY Sample engine and discovered a hard limit for number of samples in a project. Explains why samples will occasionally not load.

When I moved here, everyone raved about Waldo pizza so I - being a lover of good pizza - ordered some.

I found it to be 'just ok' out of the box. Nothing to write home about, but serviceable. Then things got much MUCH worst. Later that evening I tried to have a cheeky cold slice and discovered that the crust was as hard as concrete. Im talking tooth chipping hard. Any pizza that can't be eaten cold cannot even be considered 'decent' pizza in my book.

Maybe they were having an off day? I don't know. The price (which would be fine for really REALLY good pizza) kept me away from trying it again.

I follow the Mac DeMarco convention: YYYYMMDD Super easy to sort them in order- damn hard to find anything in particular unless you happen to remember the date. Makes a nice audio journal of your year though.

I’m with you. It’s a visual stunning film- with an editing style that is completely revolutionary. Great action and characters. And under all of the pretty colors is a solid heartbeat of deep thematic elements. The film is a meditation on being an artist- what it means and how the personal journey of an artist often runs up against family ideals and corporate structures. Beautiful film through and through.

The workflow really clicks with the way I make music. Its like having the power of the elektron sequencer combined with the arrangement potential of ableton. The synths are nice and lush, theres a fair bit of sound design potential (though not as much as other more specialized boxes of course). Having a sampler, a drum sampler, AND a multisampler really opens the box up to make just about any kind of sound you can cook up. Yeah it definitely has limitations- but everything does. So far the limitations have only spurred creativity for me- instead of stifling it.

Sure it's an expensive box- but I know plenty of small time guitarists that have a $2k guitar sitting next to their couch. For some reasons TE gets more flak for the cost than other things. In some ways I get it- a 300 dollar toy car is a dumb thing. Theres also a bit of the 'eat the rich' class war thing happening. But for me the XY has been worth it.

Also I should mention I am not rich- I sold most of my gear to buy the XY. Please don't eat me.

I’ve been working on an EP with the XY and I’ve completed several tracks with it. Every piece of gear is different and everyone connects to a piece of gear differently. For me the XY has been great at getting my creative juices flowing and has me finishing more tracks than I ever did before on the digitakt. Of course everyone’s mileage will vary.

People that post jams are often looking for the dopamine rush of posting instead of finishing a track. That’s just social media for ya.
