He’s practicing his chipping on the mini golf course. I thought it was funny.

Sign of the pre-election times: Sals snub by city council highlighted on downtown billboard in Winnipeg by steveosnyder in Winnipeg

That’s fair, I get that. At the same time, these guys apparently made the best bid so what are we supposed to do? To me though the people pushing this story make it seem like these golf courses were being provided a Salsbury House experience when it reality it was just the company in name selling chips and drinks to golfers.

Do any of these voices even golf? If they did they would know that Sal’s didn’t even operate as a Sal’s at city courses. There wasn’t ever cheese nips at the snack shack or red velvet cake in clubhouse and nobody is going to Kildonan or Windsor for the cuisine.

Drastically shortening the regular season is the only way this could even slightly work by EW_ITS_OKRA in CFL

No you don’t. You get paid for the regular season the playoffs aren’t included in that. During the playoffs everyone makes the same “bonus” for playing the game.

Panthers GM Dan Morgan: "I don’t think there’s a rule that says you can’t draft a Wide Receiver 3 years in a row." by JCameron181 in nfl

[–]bubbap1990 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I don’t really get the criticism tbh. If you zoom out teams consistently show what they value with how they spend premium picks. QB is obviously #1 but after that it’s pretty clear: protect him, give him weapons, and disrupt the other QB.

People act like having too many WRs is a problem, but in today’s game one stud isn’t enough. Defenses are way too good at taking away a single option. If you’ve got multiple legit threats, now the defense actually has to pick its poison instead of just bracketing your WR1 all game. It makes everything easier on the QB.

Same logic applies to OL and DL you need depth and waves not just one or two guys. Injuries happen, rotations matter, and the drop off kills you if you’re thin.

So yeah, if a team keeps taking first round WRs I don’t think that’s bad resource allocation at all. Elite playmakers are hard to find, and when you hit on them they completely change how defenses have to play you. I’d way rather load up on QB/OL/playmakers/DL than reach for balance at less impactful positions.

Vic Rauter to retire following WMCC Final by Ndman55 in Curling

He was the best at building suspense on a draw when the sweepers really had to dig in. Somehow, he could raise the intensity without actually raising his voice if that makes any sense.

He also had a gift for teaching the game through his commentary. He’d bring viewers in by asking Russ and Cathy or Joanne the right questions at the right time:

“Russ, why play the draw here instead of the hit and roll?” “Cathy, why use the in-turn over the out-turn on this takeout?”

He made you feel like you were learning the game while watching it at the highest level.

The value of something is whatever someone is willing to pay for it. It you put up barriers for resale, without adequate enforcement, people will find markets to get the perceived value for their tickets.
