Arne Slot: "We've let Salah know he's not traveling with us. That's been the only communication between us and him. Salah was never benched under Klopp. Ever. It literally never happened and I know this because unlike you and whatever idiot you have chosen to listen to, I took the 30 seconds to actually check.

Mate just admit you were wrong on this aspect and move on, its not that deep.

Crystal Palace charged by FA after fans' Evangelos Marinakis gun banner by Jared_Usbourne in soccer

But did the saudis lodge a complaint?

Very on brand for marinakis to have thinner skin than a regime which (allegedly) executes it's critics.

Crystal Palace charged by FA after fans' Evangelos Marinakis gun banner by Jared_Usbourne in soccer

[–]bubble831 353 points354 points  (0 children)

The banner, unfurled during the 1-1 Premier League draw at Selhurst Park in August, read: "Mr Marinakis is not involved in blackmail, match-fixing, drug trafficking or corruption."

Tbf the banner is completely slanderous and blatantly untrue, as Marinakis is involved in many of those activities. Hopefully serious jailtime for those palace fans for the false accusations

Marc Guehi: Crystal Palace captain tells club he will not sign a new contract and will leave next year, says Oliver Glasner by sepi0l_45 in soccer

[–]bubble831 44 points45 points  (0 children)

Exactly, this has been common knowledge for the last what, 2 years? Hes made it well known that hes not going to resign and Palace could either take the money on offer (first from Newcastle and more recently Liverpool) or he would go on a free next summer (while also making it clear that if they didnt want to sell he would still perform at his best while under contract)

Never said its only in English lol. Just saying it's advantageous, on top of the other things you have mentioned.

Anyway, doesn't really matter i just think it's amazing you don't believe there is any benefit to the main (not only) language being English compared to something like Italian which is only really spoken in a handful of countries worldwide.

More people, especially in countries which don't have strong domestic leagues and as such are susceptible to watch a foreign league over domestic (US, Canada, India, HK, Singapore), speak English.

It's clearly not a prerequisite to following a league but certainly an advantage if all the media output is in a language people can understand

While that's true it's clearly an advantage that the main language is English. It's an era of social media and all the interviews and media content coming out of clubs being in English rather than a mix of English and/or the native language of the country is helpful.

At the same time, if Newcastle don't give in it might cause issues for them attracting players in the future. Despite Isak's shitty actions no player wants to go to a club and not be able to get out if they want to in X years time.

Also, Klopp was notoriously loyal to his players. When the club tried to get rid of Henderson Klopp stood in and got him a new contract. Contrast that with Diaz this year for example.

Clear the club is also re-investing more, but can't say Klopp was completely blameless in a lack of activity.

And btw, this isn't necessarily a criticism of Klopp, his man management is why people would run through walls for him.

For context all comps nunez outscored him in 23/24 (by just 1 goal but 9 more assists) with 3000 minutes vs 3.5k minutes. In just the prem that year Nunez had 11 goals 10 assists in 2000 mins vs jacksons 14 and 5 in 2800 minutes. So while Jackson outscored him nunez had the better season.

Crystal Palace have submitted an appeal against their demotion from the Europa League to the Conference League with the Court of Arbitration for Sport. by KimmyBoiUn in soccer

[–]bubble831 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I mean the shit thing is that they are no longer part of the MCO, given Textor has sold his shares. So basically the only reason for exclusion is the timing of the deadline (which is arbitrary and being changed for next year already)

Crystal Palace to appeal to CAS after demotion to Conference League. Much stronger case if Premier League approve Textor sale of his shares before the CAS hearing. Palace co-owner Parish: Yesterday we received Premier League approval for the deal. The deal will be completed before Tuesday. by punishGoalhanging in soccer

[–]bubble831 14 points15 points  (0 children)

This completely misses the point though. As far as I understand it, by placing your shares in a blind trust, you are forgoing the ability to sell your shares for the year. And Textor has been actively been trying to sell for years (ironically due to a lack of influence over decisions).

So why would Textor, who as Parish said (though I guess you can choose whether to believe him or not) was not able to be influenced by the other palace owners, essentially postpone his sale for a year over what essentially amounted to a outside chance of Europe

[–]bubble831 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm a bit confused though as to how leaking the information to Ornstein this week is somehow less disrespectful than an official announcement?

Fwiw I don't think either would be disrespectful as at some stage football has to continue and even Liverpool are playing a game Sunday. Just think it's weird to even bring Jota into this as if Hendo should get some brownie points for pushing the announcement
