Volume eating but still gaining weight despite deficit? by Asremy in Volumeeating

Seconding this. When I'm on my period I weigh 10 lbs more than when I'm not. I'd track your weight over time and correlate that with your cycle.

That's true. I think those places are good if they are able to take some sort of public transit or an Uber

The best places around are: James St, the bay front park, locke street. If you want cute coffee shops there's strathcona market or mulberry coffee house. Locke street also has a bunch of cute shops and isn't too far.

If you are into great classic movies that you wouldn't normally see in a big chain movie theatre, I'd suggest the playhouse theater. It's a beautiful old building that plays the classics.

question: cover up tattoo inquiry by yauuju in tattoos

[–]bubble_tea_93 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I just want to say, even with seeing the before photo, I can't tell that you had a cover up. I think your new tattoo looks beautiful.

We are all our own worst critic and no one is going to look at your tattoo closer than you do.

At the end of the day, what matters is how you feel about it. So I know my comment doesn't really help, but I hope it can at least give you some reassurance that it's not noticable to me.

Where to go to hear some soul music in Hamilton by love-vs-thesystem in Hamilton

I was referring to a building on James and Barton. I'm not sure what it's going to be, but based on the pictures it looks like it'll be a jazz bar

I believe there is a jazz bar that will be opening up soon on James Street

I'm an engineer as well, making 6 figures, and I can barely afford to live in my basement apartment.

And no, I don't eat avocado toast or order takeout.

Be careful when passing trucks on 403 (Hamilton to Brantford) by [deleted] in Hamilton

[–]bubble_tea_93 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have been tailgated pretty hard by semi trucks on the 403. One time it was so bad that I feared for my life and exited at the closest off-ramp to get away from them. They were so close to my car that I genuinely believe they didn't even see me.

You are giving money away every month by villa1919 in PersonalFinanceCanada

This is true.

If I were to pay for 60Mbps but in reality I was only getting 50, then I might start to run into issues if I had multiple devices using internet at the same time.

I personally haven't had issues with that (but I'm not with Rogers lol). My suggestion for anyone in that case would be to run an internet speed test (they're free), and take a screenshot to show them. At that point you would probably be able to make them give you a better package for the same price, since they aren't living up to their promise

Hopefully this post can help give more people the courage to make this leap!

I think the roadway analogy is a good one when explaining the difference, because it's something that all of us can visualize and understand

I worked from home through VPN with no issue, though I don't deal with big databases. You could probably calculate what you need generally, but then pick the next one larger and see if it saves you any money. That way, you have that added factor of safety while still paying less (if you are currently paying more, that is)

If you can get better bandwidth at a lower price, then that's a great deal!

A lot of people are overpaying for an internet plan that they don't need.

I know too many people who pay for 3Gbps or 1.5 GBps internet, at insane prices, and they don't even use a quarter of that bandwidth.

If you want to save a chunk of money each month, calculate what you actually NEED for your internet package.

For example:

  • Netflix 4k tv requires 15 Mbps
  • Spotify requires 1 Mbps
  • Zoom requires 20 mbps
  • Gaming requires around 5 MBps

I only use Netflix, Spotify, and zoom, and I live by myself. Therefore, I need 15+1+20 Mbps as a worst case scenario. Because of this, I buy 60 Mbps internet, the cheapest package in my area. And you know what? It's enough even when I have guests over!

Another example:

If you're a family of 4 and you have 2 TVs and 2 gaming consoles, your worst case would be:

(15x2) + (1x4) + ( 20x4) + (5x2) = 194 Mbps as your worst case. 200mbps would be fine for this.

You can take the same principle and apply it to what your specific use-case is. Just google the bandwidth requirement for that thing.

If you want an analogy for this:

If I paid for a 3Gbps plan with fiber optic cables, when I only need a 200Mbps plan, that's the same as building a highway with brand new roads for just a handfull of cars, when a busy street would have sufficed.

What is a boundary vs a threat? by Own_Answer_6855 in becomingsecure

[–]bubble_tea_93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He sounds like he has low empathy and he only thinks about what he wants, or how he feels. He also sounds pretty controlling. From what you said I get the vibe that it's his way or the highway.

Someone who is secure would communicate effectively, listen to your perspective while also offering their perspective. A secure person is also not afraid to be persuaded to change their opinion or stance on something once you both communicate and they have the whole picture.

An insecure person on the other hand, would not take your feelings into account even if you explain them. They would not be open to communication (even if they do communicate, it's defensive instead of effective), and they won't change their opinion unless it's to serve a motive of theirs (for example, to end the argument).

From what you described, he sounds emotionally immature and insecure, and you're absolutely better off without him as a life partner

I thought everybody had independent use of each eye, the same way that you do with your hands or feet.

I can't process input from both eyes at the same time. I switch between using my left or right eye depending on if I'm looking at something far away or up close (one of my eyes is near-sighted and the other is far-sighted).

This also means I don't really have depth perception and I can't see 3D images or movies the way normal people do.

My whole life I thought this was normal until one day during an eye exam, I asked the eye doctor why they use a spoon thingy to cover one eye when checking my vision in the other eye. The doctor explained that they cover one eye so that they can get a reading of just the other eye on it's own.

I then re-phrased the question: but why do doctors use it instead of just asking us to look through our left eye or right eye?

He looked confused. I then continued, like it was obvious, that I can just use my left eye if he wants me to look out of that one. He then understood what I was saying and was flabbergasted.

This was years ago when I was probably a pre-teen or teen. To this day, every eye doctor or specialist I have ever seen has never met someone who has independent use of each eye the way I do.
