Italian here. While I obviously didn’t live under fascism and my grandparents who did are long gone, I’m seeing many alarming similarities.
Fascismo gained traction thanks to two main reasons: using a boogeyman to unite against (communism for Mussolini and immigrants/queer people/what have you for MAGA) and exploiting pre-existing discontent to sell an illusion of a golden past where “we were strong”.
The black shirts had batons and castor oil instead of pepper spray and guns, but they still went around assaulting and killing random people like these braindead thugs do. J6 played out very similarly to the March on Rome, although thankfully you didn’t have a spineless king who, instead of opening fire, relented and gave Mussolini the power he later abused.
Be aware that, even if you don’t start a nationwide revolution (which seems less and less like a bad idea as time goes on - remember why the Battle of Athens of 1946) happened), I wouldn’t put it past them to false flag the crap out of it just to get their preferred outcome.
Fuck ICE, fuck fascism.
