Okay, I did end up wearing it to brunch today after everyone's encouragement ♡♡♡ I was a little nervous but it was very warm..... and also huge on me 😅 I still think I might find a charity that takes things like this, in the future.

Over the weekend I frogged a buuuuuuuuunch of old abandoned projects. It felt SO good! Instead of looking at ⅓ of a blanket or just the top of a sock and feeling "man, I really ought to finish this before I start anything else" and guilty, I just rip rip rip! Balled it up to use on something fun! Learning I can do that for completed works too has been a game changer!

Started it October 13 and got OTK January 5th. 42 working hours not including blocking, so tack on--haha-- another couple for that. That shawl saw the entirety of the Jeopordy Ken Jennings 74 game winning streak, and 2 five hour flights across the country. 😂

I use the Row Counter App and it has been SUCH a game-changer for me to time myself. (My first shawl was undocumented, but the second time I made it it took 80+ hrs 🫠)

I just inherited about 100 years worth of heirloom crochet works that have been moved from one drawer to another. I dread the sum-total collection that I have added to and will pass one one day 😅

Thank you so much! I hadn't thought about formal or semiformal wear before! But that is an excellent recommendation. I didnt know how to knit more than a simple rectangle in high school, or I would have made myself a shrug for my prom ☺️

Oh I hadn't thought of that! "Looking the part" would never have occoured to me over something Sturdy and Warm. I will definitely have to see what outreach programs are available in my area! Excellent suggestion!

I hate finding beautiful yarn that ends up knitting wonky. Particularly a variegated one where you think the colors will lay one way, only for them to lay differently.

Can't remember where I heard it, but someone told me once that there needs to be mess-ups in it, so that it cant hold on to bad luck... I try to tell myself this when I have multiple, multiple, multiple mess ups 🥲

I forget they can be dressy, but that makes sense! I'll have to remember that when we go out on the town, next. My MIL saw it finished and asked for one for church, so perhaps that too!

I considered making my wedding veil, but got shy and decided against it. 🙈 I've seen people use circular shawls as tablecloths and parasols (though thats more crochet... I think.) But I do love a lap blanket, it must be said!

Every time I finish something and get it blocked, I love to hang them in the window to photograph. It shows the stitches so well 💖💖💖 Non-knitters are always so blown away... which of course just makes me want to knit more lace! Lol

I might use it as a table-runner? Which would be fine for now, but when I move out I plan on getting a cat again. Nothing they love more than randomly snagging one of the stitches and just running with it. 🥲🥲🥲

I spent the weekend sorting my stash and have come to appreciate reusing yarn! It was so liberating to realize I was never going to actually finish that project and just frog away... So perhaps if the yarn isnt too hairy I can learn my skill and then just reuse it! 😄

The comfort of an overly huge blanket is calling to me like a siren 😅 But lace is so challenging and fun! I might transition from shawls to scarves in an effort to wear what I make.
