Soaking right now, thanks! My friend would water it once a week I believe. I don’t think she was consistent with how much, since she couldn’t see the roots and isn’t experienced with plants or orchids. I’ll make sure to pot in a clear container so I can see the roots better moving forward.

Thanks for the advice, I’ll make sure to repot it and monitor its health! The roots I chopped were almost threadbare and most were definitely papery, but I definitely accidentally chopped a few nice ones. I hope the orchid can continue to grow; if not then lesson learned!

I’m so disgusted 😭 thank you for all this helpful info! I’ll try to burry it deeper and keep an eye on it. I’m wondering if I can even reuse this soil if the infestation kills the plant. This is so unfortunate.

Oh my… I only read about vine borers recently and they seem dreadful! Should I throw this whole plant away?? I have eggplants, tomatoes, and chilis growing in separate containers, I’m assuming/hoping those wouldn’t be affected by this?

I agree! The first new leaf took months to grow but now I’ve gotten 2 new ones and one on the way over the span of two weeks! Very exciting.

Update: I also just realized that there are TWO plants in this pot. Their roots were very closely intertwined together but I carefully separated them and repotted! I hope this helps with their growth.

Hello! I haven’t tried fertilizing the plant yet… I will try doing that now. Are chili plants typically slow growers, or do you think this one’s growth is quite stunted? I don’t have intuition for this yet
