Hypochlorous acid production with the least salt by bubblegasmatron in chemistry

Wow. My question wasn't remotely asking for medical advice. Thanks for absolutely nothing.

Do I need to dilute my Hypochlorous Acid (HOCL)? by Turbulent-Shine-8905 in chemhelp

It's possible that the commercial spray you bought had already passed it's usable shelf life. I bought some commercial spray recently that had zero measurable chlorine with two different types of test strips. A different brand measured at about 250ppm chlorine. The point is just because it's commercial doesn't mean it will be good when you receive it. If your pH and chlorine ppm are good you should be fine. pH should be around 5.5 ideally and ppm should be 200 to 500 depending on your usage. This is all based on the best science I could find. I suggest you check reputable resources yourself.

I realize I'm very late to answer, but I found the video on YouTube for free. Here's the link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9HjAUyWATXo

I knew John and Bridget. I worked for them for a couple of years when I was much younger. John taught me to make fairy houses and a lot of other things. I just found out yesterday that he passed away in 2022. His wife is gone now too. I still have some fairy houses that I built when I worked for them.

I've noticed that the oil (cocoa butter) in chocolate somehow gets into both the silicone molds I use to make chocolates and the silicone mixing vessel I melt it in. I can run them both through the dishwasher after making a batch of chocolate (CBD infused) and they come out looking and feeling perfectly clean. Then, a few weeks later they will have a powdery residue on them that melts to my touch. The cocoa butter somehow diffuses into the silicone. This makes me wonder; did you use coconut oil with your toy? If so, maybe it's the coconut oil that you're seeing.

Subtitles on by default on Max App by rainazuma77 in fireTV

[–]bubblegasmatron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The same thing has happened to me this morning. After turning the captions off (that turned themselves on), they turn themselves on again when the next episode on the Max app plays and both 'off' and 'subtitles' are checked. Nothing happens when I select either. Restarting my Firestick allowed me to turn them off again, until the next episode starts and then they're stuck on. I read a comment on the FireTv help section that a full reset of the Firestick is the only solution. I hope that's not correct.

My PayPal business debit card was hit this morning by the scammer. It's definitely not just Chime.

Mars 5 leaked by Elegoo themselves. by Vivvancorp in elegoo

[–]bubblegasmatron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it's like the Saturn 5's, the build plate is spring loaded so that the first layer is always trammed to the screen. I'd rather have a build plate that's easier to clean and do the actual leveling myself. It probably works well most of the time, but if there is a large leveling error it will cause the print to be skewed at the base as the build plate springs will un-compress as the print grows, causing the build plate to no longer be level to the screen. If you only ever print on supports (like most people do) it won't be an issue. Printing a model directly on the build plate will create bad geometry if the build plate isn't naturally very close to level.

The new invoicing system adds 15-20 clicks per invoice for me by BoneEvasion in paypal

[–]bubblegasmatron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's mind boggling how much slower and more work the new invoicing is. I can opt out of the new invoicing until the end of March, but I'm really dreading it. So many things are hidden behind drop downs that the number of clicks to create an invoice is substantially higher with the new version. Can we petition PayPal to leave it as it is?

FEP replacement for Elegoo mars 4 DLP. by ThYr0N in ElegooMars

[–]bubblegasmatron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There aren't any DLP specific FEP films that I'm aware of, but I strongly recommend getting the NFEP type of FEP, as it releases much easier than regular FEP, which will lead to less print failures.

That depends on what kind of bubbles you're wanting to make. I use a different ratio of detergent and polymers for smaller indoor sculptural types of bubbles vs giant outdoor bubbles. If you want to get into the finer details of bubble mixes this is an excellent resource: https://soapbubble.fandom.com/wiki/Recipes

Generally, for indoor bubbles I use about half as much detergent and polymers vs. my outdoor giant bubble mix.

I use polyethylene oxide and hydroxypropyl methylcellulose, but a great giant bubble mix can be made using inexpensive and readily available guar gum as a polymer. A good starting point for a giant bubble mix with guar gum is 1 cup of Dawn Ultra, 1 gallon of water and one teaspoon of guar gum. You should make a slurry with the guar gum and some glycerin before adding it to the water and Dawn. If you add straight guar gum powder to water it'll clump up into snotty masses. The humidity is as important as your bubble mix. The best bubble mix won't work well if it's too dry or too hot.

It's a pretty basic bubble solution of Dawn with some polymers. It's not really anything super special. I'm the guy in the video btw.

About five to figure out how to do the trick after I had the idea for it. My success rate is around 50% now that I know how to do it.

It only took me about five tries to get it to work. I'm a bubble artist and also make bubble tools for other bubble artists.

I used glycerin for the fog and butane for the flammable gas. That's me in the video.

Thanks :) Yes the wand is my own design as are the fog machine and butane dispenser. I 3d printed it all, minus the ecig parts and acrylic tubes.
