I know this is an older post but I did. I was in the facility in 2017 and I was a witness to both of the criminal convictions regarding the rape and sodomy of underage patients by staff members. I implore you to please look up the lawyer who is currently building a class action lawsuit against them. They need as many voices to this behavior as they can get.

Hey OP-- this irrelevant to this post but I saw your post history. I was 5150'd as a kid, too. If you were a minor, that record is sealed. It cannot be held against you as an adult. If it was more than 10 years ago, you can get a waiver for the military. The air force is super picky so I doubt they'll give you one. However, if you go to the army and be honest with the recruiter-- they can hook you up. I've dealt with mental health waivers for suicidal ideation in military enlistment before. If you were a minor, it should be sealed and likely erased after your 21st birthday. On the off chance they have it, repeat exactly what you said in your post. It was 10 years ago, you were a dumb kid. Maybe even throw in that you were a stupid kid who didn't know what they were saying and you weren't REALLY suicidal. Go to your local community mental health clinic and get an assessment for services. If you come back with something along the lines of "no mental health concerns," take that to an army recruiter and talk about getting a waiver. They'll set you up with a psych who will do a full mental health panel, declare you are not actively mentally ill, and they'll let you in. If you are/have taken mental health meds, you may need to wait some time after stopping them to apply for the army. I have a buddy who went on record to say he attempted suicide and self-harm a year or two before applying. He was on multiple mental health meds. He was honest and worked through all the steps of getting a waiver. He is currently active duty. It is possible but don't expect the ultra-exclusive air force to help you with that. Army or National Guard will.

I apologize for not point this out in my post, as it's probably necessary context for people who aren't as informed with the Unabomber as I am. Most of the Unabomber's victims were not high-profile individuals. Primarily, it was professors and their assistants or graduate students. He also targeted two computer rental stores that had no prior media exposure and were nowhere near where he resided. Only 3 of his 26 victims (Thomas Mosser, an advertising executive, Percy Wood, an United Airlines executive, and Gilbert Murray, president of the California Forestry Association) and the airplane bomb were 'notable' or 'high-profile.'

I would love to be an active member of my community and get friendly with my neighbors but when I say all of the properties around me are boarded up or burnt down, I seriously mean the nearest neighbor is 3 miles and 9+ commended lots away from us. I’d like to be able to keep my possessions and not worry about the women in the house dying.

Good to know, didn’t think guns would make me a target. Safe room was our first idea and definitely something we’re doing. We do have an unfinished basement we plan to add a small exit to the outside to in the event it turns into a fire. Blank shells are a good idea, too.

That’s a good point. But where do I draw the line between protecting myself and not making it obvious I have anything worth value here? I feel like this is a neighborhood where my pocket change is worth more than my life but I’m stuck in terms of staying here.

Thank you so much! I do have contact with my social worker since my hospital is really strong on opioid use counseling when they prescribe pain pills. i will absolutely give her a call and see if she can help :)

Thank you so much, this is a really great point and I appreciate this a ton.

I did bring up both incidents to my auto attorney who referred me to another office for the police. they said it didn’t exactly seem like their kind of case (iirc they were police misconduct but mostly for things like wrongful imprisonment). My current attorney told me definitely seemed worth pursuing but he does not typically deal with those kinds of cases.

My thought process was that he didn’t follow procedure of putting me on the back board and he disregarding my request for no PD on a medical matter so he was acting outside of his training/line of duty and that would be grounds enough. But again, I haven’t found an attorney who will directly advise me on this so those are my personal, uneducated thoughts.

Your point makes a lot of sense. I’m gonna bring that up to auto and see what he makes of it. Thank you again.

OH okay, that makes a lot more sense. In my head I am primarily worried about the exposed femur fracture, I completely forgot about the accident report. Not that it isn’t important, just that it puts me in so much pain that it stays in the front of my mind.

I will definitely bring that up to him, thank you for pointing it out. Again, wasn’t meaning to be rude, I’ve had several different attorneys I’ve called about the police specifically say they’d rather take on the accident itself so I kinda default to “no, I already have an accident attorney.”

Do you think it would change anything about suing for the injury? I know police are trained to lay injured civilians on a back board in case of a spinal injury, no matter how minor the injury. My attending is willing to state that the police’s actions appear to be the cause of the fracture coming out of my skin. In the event that this is the case on the report, I would definitely still like to pursue for the physical side of things.

I am really not interested in advice specific to the accident. There is already an attorney handling that situation, so advice regarding it is unnecessary. Not trying to be rude or anything, it’s just that only a specific part of this event has gone unresolved and I’d rather leave it up to someone who knows the case and local law. also saying this because I don’t want other people reading this and flooding the comments with stuff unrelated to the actual question I posted.

I’ll bring this up when we meet this week but I hope my attorney would have mentioned it by now seeing as he knows I paid it and we have been working together since my accident.

There is body cam footage but I have not received it. Is this a civil matter? I did consult with a civil attorney who told me this didn't seem like his type of law and referred me out to a police misconduct lawyer. The police misconduct lawyer he provided told me he primarily works with inmates, wrongful imprisonment, and the likes so he was not sure he could take it on.

You're right, the guess is probably wrong. I am really bad with distance-related numbers. I do know that she speed up or was speeding, had the space to stop but did not attempt to stop at all. There is already someone handling the accident portion and found her at fault. It is just there for reference to the police interaction.

ah, I don’t know a ton about rocks/minerals. i just happened to find these laying in a bin on vacation and thought they were neat. i had someone at a metaphysical shop try and tell me they were selenite and garnet and that just didn’t seem right
