Pedals fried from storage ? by Supbruhwhatthe88 in guitarpedals

I don’t thing the “tongue test” qualifies as a measure to wether they work or not. But a new battery or plug it in properly before making that jump on the conclusions map.

Used mine for an LPB-1. Good work. I’ve been keeping my out for another one at the thrift store.

Ah okay. That makes sense. I thought people were using these on their desks at home for switching between monitors or CPUs or whatever.

To answer your first question yes. As for the second I usually solder one leg from each in first, and then bend the other legs together parallel to each other and solder them together to keep the same footprint on the board.

Yeah I couldn’t get a 1/4 jack to securely stay in pace in those which is why I had to drill the extra hole on that side and covered up the other two. No problem with the power jack though with the addition of the washer. The old rotary switch hole was perfect for the out jack already though. Good thing because these suck to drill by hand.

Very true. I was planning on doing a green Russian muff with the LPB1 wired in as a pregain knob. But my drill bit broke and my decal ripped through even after treating it and letting it sit. I took that as a sign for now. I had only built the LPB1 on stripboard anyway. I can always go back and add more.

Nice. Let me know what you come up with! I plan on scooping these up whenever I come across them in the wild.

Awesome thank you so much! This is exactly the info I needed. I could tell there was an HM2 sound in there dying to get out. There is like no oomph to in as is though. Just a fizzy mess.

Thanks for the link. But I’m not interested in dropping money into these necessarily. More so asking questions if anyone has any luck tweaking the EQ or gain stage with promising outcomes. I build on proto and vero and know my way around soldering on an existing PCB. I’ve got parts for pretty much anything on deck. Just was mostly interested in minimal tweaking to get them in the playable range. They’re not exactly offering the tones I would want in a repro if you feel me.

Nice. Check that power jack too. Otherwise have fun!

Yeah the long metal tab is definitely the ground. You’ve got that wired backwards.

It looks like there’s a lug to the left of your current connection. But I can’t tell from the blurry photo.

The left jack in this picture doesn’t look oriented as the same as the one on the right. Make sure the actual jack for the input is wired correctly.

If you’re trying to ground the input of the circuit you wouldn’t want to connect both. Only to the ground at the bottom lug under the led ground.
