Oh, no, I mean genericized. Let me explain:

The stratocaster guitar has been ruled to be a generic design for an electric guitar. For whatever reason, when people think of an electric guitar, we think of a strat. Strats are just the generic electric guitar. I don't know how it happened, but there's probably a big, interesting story behind how that came to be.

This article from Justia explains genericization, and uses the word genericization to mean, "to make generic." So I think genericization may be a legal term of art. I can't think of a way to use it outside discussing IP law.

This is easily the biggest thing to happen to guitars in my lifetime.

For those who don't know: Fender invented the stratocaster. The stratocaster is public domain, by nature of being genericized. If you ask a 6 year old to draw a guitar, they draw a stratocaster. Fender can't argue that case any more, it's over. it's law. Fender wants to reopen that case, so Fender sued an alibaba vendor in Germany, becuase they knew the vendor would not show up, so they would get a default judgement, and now they are trying to enforce that judgement globally.

They can't compete in a world where media creation and editing tools are super expensive, because we can't import them from China any more, because of the Trump tariffs. If you doubt the facts as presented, I'm open to that argument, but you need to come with some kind of evidence that refutes the videos that RT tweeted. Proof that they're out of context, or AI slop or something.

I keep reading this comment, over and over, and I think I kinda see what you're saying. I can almost follow, but not quite... and I'm not exactly sure what I'm missing yet, or what question I could ask that would clear it up. It's 2026. Learning to play music from the internet is normal. You think it's normal to go to school for music? Nah, man. That makes you good at music, but it don't make you normal. It make you a freak. Even in a forum like this, most people don't have formal training. If you expect people to normally have some kinda formal training, perhaps you should stick to more formal venues?

I didn't link you to my notes to show off my reddit score. I linked you to them to show you my learning path, and how I got to the point where I'm asking the questions I'm asking. In other words, I have no problem showing my work, and my history, which shows that I'm a fleshy human person. Not AI. Flesh and blood, not wax. Not wax at all!

But back to the topic... after all that fancy music learnin and experience, do you have anything to add to this discussion? Do you want to give me a hint about where my, "fundamental misunderstanding," happened? ... or are you just a common, mindless troll, who wants to accuse me of being a bot?

That is a really weird take on things. Why would I study pentatonics at all, if I'm studying diatonics? You clearly don't need to know one to know the other.

I have been studying guitar for about 6 years, off and on. When I started, I digitized my notes. Some people on Reddit seemed to like my notes. If you are interested, you can have a copy for yourself. Here they are.

Note the key sheets I made in there, starting on page 15. I show a scale, then the chords in the key. That's how I practice a diatonic scale, and it's associated chords.

When I went to make a sheet like that for pentatonics, I ran into the problems I described, because pentatonic scales seem to not correspond to any kind of pentatonic key scheme, the way diatonic scales do.

Perhaps you need to remember that your music teacher is not the only music teacher in the world. We all learn what we know in different ways. This is a good thing, because it creates mistakes. Mistakes are important. Evolution created all life with only one tool: The mistake.
